White House Insiders Say Donald Trump Is "Demoralized" That No One Thinks He's a Real President
By Jack Moore

The President is sad.

Well, it finally happened. Thanks to the Washington Post we have leaked details from inside the first few official days of Donald Trump's administration, and it sounds like everything is going smoothly and professionally. In fact, I'm sure our brave and powerful new President is... Okay, that was 280 characters. There's no way Trump reads more than two tweets worth of information so now we can speak freely. Guys, the Trump administration is even more of a fucking shitshow than we could have imagined.

The whole piece is worth your time but there are three anecdotes in there that I have to talk about. First, some behind the scenes info on Sean Spicer's furious teacher routine on Saturday where he flat out lied about the size of Trump's inaugural in stark and absurd language. Well, it turns out America wasn't alone in thinking Spicer did a terrible job—Trump thought he blew it too. But because he's a delusional maniac, his problem with the unhinged statement was that he didn't think Spicer was unhinged enough.

Many critics thought Spicer went too far and compromised his integrity. But in Trump’s mind, Spicer’s attack on the news media was not forceful enough. The president was also bothered that the spokesman read, at times haltingly, from a printed statement.

Donald Trump thinks that the guy who angrily went out and scolded the press while yelling easily disproven lies was too reserved? What did he want Spicer to do? Break the podium over Zeke Miller's head like he just betrayed the nWo Wolfpac?

But as if that wasn't enough, this section made my eyeballs bleed. (Someone please call a doctor.)

Trump has been resentful, even furious, at what he views as the media’s failure to reflect the magnitude of his achievements, and he feels demoralized that the public’s perception of his presidency so far does not necessarily align with his own sense of accomplishment.

This is unquestionably true and obvious, but I have to ask: ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! The poor billionaire who rode a wave of xenophobia into the White House is sad that the public doesn't think his presidency is good enough? Let me help you, Donald. You want us to think you're great? Do something great. Who am I kidding? That would be ridiculous.

Speaking of ridiculous the best moment of the piece from a pure comedy standpoint is this nugget of gold about the location of Kellyanne Conway's office:

One suggested that Conway’s office on the second floor of the West Wing, as opposed to one closer to the Oval Office, was a sign of her diminished standing. Though Conway took over the workspace previously occupied by Valerie Jarrett, who had been Obama’s closest adviser, the confidant dismissively predicted that Trump would rarely climb a flight of stairs.

Our nation's future is currently in the hands of a man whose confidant is pretty confident he's too lazy to climb a single flight of stairs to go see one of his top advisors. Luckily for us, we all know that it's not like the problems of the government are as grueling as walking up stairs.

Thanks for posting though, as I read these "inside stories" with relish (There's one from the NYT and Josh Marshall among others are discussing the leaks)

Leaks and infighting are good for us, but bad for the country. If DT reads these articles ( I don't think he does read much, he watches TV), he is bound to overreact... we shall see. The protagonists seem to be RNC "establishment" ( Spicer and Preibus) vs Trumpians (Kushner and Bannon). I would bet the establishment wins that battle in the long-term. The more Trumpians get hung up on piddling things like crowd sizes and ratings while avoiding important things like policy, the entrenched powers that be can ride out the battles and win those wars.

My main point being there are forces within the GOP aligned against Trump. I will be willing to bet he gets primaried if he makes it to 20/20

Racists are ecstatic and convinced that Trump's election somehow has declared racism okay.

The nation is divided. Huge, terrific protests. Brawls. Somebody got shot in the face, supposedly in self-defense.

Traditional US-allies around the world are terrified what Trump might do next, what treaties and bonds he might break next.

Scientists and US intelligence worried that he will simply wipe out their precious, fact-based work.

And all of this in less than a week since his inauguration!!!

Are these the achievements that Trump wants reported?

He's beyond change. He sees himself as filthy rich and accomplished and he doesn't need to learn anything. He tries to read the national mood by obsessing with Joe Scar and the idiots on the FoxCouch. Great sampling, there. The fact is, neither source reflects the mood of the electorate. So Donny-be-nimble is getting an entirely bogus read on the national mood.

Perhaps we ought to start sending him paint-by-numbers kits. Conway can come down from her office loft and set Trumpy up with some watercolors and maybe Little Lord Fauntleroy will get distracted from the TV.

I, too, am enjoying how this individual, whom I am seeing more and more frequently referred to as various versions of "baby man", is his own worst enemy. He can't help himself. He keeps on obsessing. And as long as he's stuck on this kind of thing, the press will keep reporting it and it will still be talked about and laughed at, and the problem will NOT go away. It'll only get worse, and remain in the public's mind. He's keeping it up front because he's simply incapable of letting it go. And that only makes it worse, and drives it farther down deeper into the national zeitgeist. We've never had a so-called "president" who's become a joke this quickly - at least that I can recall.

It's really quite illuminating to stop for a moment and just wrap your brain around this size thing of his. He's clearly got an abnormally profound issue with size. The size of his crowds, the size of his hands, the size of his victory, the size of his buildings, you name it. Makes me wonder if the size of his - um - "manhood" - is so minuscule that it'd fit in a thimble with plenty of room left over. Why else would he be so obsessive about size? Bigliness I guess you could call it.

Yes, he pandered to those he thought would give him votes, but he does not care so much what the average American thinks. While he would prefer adoration from the masses, he has always been after the approval of those in power and the intellectuals and "coastal elitists" that he claims to despise. I think he thought that "winning" the Presidency would bring him acceptance into their world. His lame inauguration proved that it did not. This almost makes him more dangerous in that the only person left for him to serve is himself.

Trump has been resentful, even furious, at what he views as the media’s failure to reflect the magnitude of his achievements, and he feels demoralized that the public’s perception of his presidency so far does not necessarily align with his own sense of accomplishment.

He will get revenge on all of us, it is all he knows to do. He will now go along with Ryan in taking our Medicare and Soc Sec which I knew all along he would do.

The question really comes down to are there enough Americans who will refuse to allow that?

60. So now it's come down to White House-ology
Tue Jan 24, 2017, 01:37 PM
Jan 2017

Go to the original WP story, linked to in the GQ link in the OP.

There's this line toward the end of the article: In perhaps the clearest sign of where the administration’s power center resides, the “Big Four” — Bannon, Conway, Kushner and Priebus — stood in the front row at Sunday afternoon’s swearing-in ceremony for senior staffers, in the White House’s East Room.

For those of you DUers old enough, does this remind you of Kremlinology (or the equivalents in China and North Korea), where officials' proximity to the General Secretary or Party Chairman or Dear Leader tells you who's in and who's out. And in the case of North Korea, who's going to be executed soon.

All I can say is, holy shit, is this what it's come to??

Conway is in for the longer haul. BTW, that toy soldier dress that she wore at the inauguration was fascinating. It was red, white, and blue, alright, same as Russia's, but the shade of blue was more consistent with the blue on the Russian flag. Anyone notice?

Well worth a read. It gives a glimpse into Dump's childishness:

President Trump had just returned to the White House on Saturday from his final inauguration event, a tranquil interfaith prayer service, when the flashes of anger began to build.

Trump turned on the television to see a jarring juxtaposition — massive demonstrations around the globe protesting his day-old presidency and footage of the sparser crowd at his inauguration, with large patches of white empty space on the Mall.

As his press secretary, Sean Spicer, was still unpacking boxes in his spacious new West Wing office, Trump grew increasingly and visibly enraged.

Pundits were dissing his turnout. The National Park Service had retweeted a photo unfavorably comparing the size of his inauguration crowd with the one that attended Barack Obama’s swearing-in ceremony in 2009. A journalist had misreported that Trump had removed the bust of Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office. And celebrities at the protests were denouncing the new commander in chief — Madonna even referenced “blowing up the White House.”

Al the "tranquil interfaith services" in the world won't cure Dump's internal rage and sense of entitlement. His anger is directed at the media, but he's also angry at everyone, private citizen, journalist, or public official who doesn't support him unconditionally.

98. It's not confidence. It's narcisstic personality disorder.

Jan 2017
http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder/basics/definition/con-20025568
Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultraconfidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

A narcissistic personality disorder causes problems in many areas of life, such as relationships, work, school or financial affairs. You may be generally unhappy and disappointed when you're not given the special favors or admiration you believe you deserve. Others may not enjoy being around you, and you may find your relationships unfulfilling.

DSM-5 criteria for narcissistic personality disorder include these features:
Having an exaggerated sense of self-importance
Expecting to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it
Exaggerating your achievements and talents
Being preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate
Believing that you are superior and can only be understood by or associate with equally special people
Requiring constant admiration
Having a sense of entitlement
Expecting special favors and unquestioning compliance with your expectations
Taking advantage of others to get what you want
Having an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others
Being envious of others and believing others envy you
Behaving in an arrogant or haughty manner

His biographers have also stated that he can't handle criticism or being corrected for mistakes.

Who the hell would EVER hire Spicer again after that inaugural nonsense? What a loser. He must have been pretty desperate. Most people got the memo not to be associated with Trump during the election because they wanted a career afterwards. Spicer is getting exactly was he deserves for selling his soul to the devil.

Trump, you got into office by delegitimizing Barack Obama not just as president but as an American. And all yes after the facts shown through you supposedly apologized, but you were awarded very handsomely, and indeed are trying to undo his legacy this very moment.you can't go ahead and bring brass knuckles into a boxing ring and wonder why people think of you as a cheat. Furthermore, as I'm sure even Mike pence could tell you, if you are so delicate that you are driven to fits because people don't like you as much as you think they should, you should of stayed the hell away from politics.

It's not like you don't have the means to actually do something great, indeed if you abandoned about half of the harebrained ideas that you campaigned on, you'll probably get a whole lot of credit. Hell just abandoned the stupid wall idea might go ahead and get you lionized as some sort of great person. You won't though, because you want the world to legitimize you on your terms, and sadly that is not how the world works.
