For instance, he whines about the taxes the rich pay: In 2013, says the CBO, the richest 1 percent of Americans paid 25.4 percent of all federal taxes mainly income and payroll taxes and the richest 10 percent (including the top 1 percent) accounted for 53.9 percent of tax revenues."
Well, considering that "The richest 1 percent in the United States now own more wealth than the bottom 90 percent." (https://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/24/opinion/nicholas-kristof-idiots-guide-to-inequality-piketty-capital.html) shouldn't the rich be paying MORE than 25.4% of the taxes and contributing MORE than 53.9% of tax revenues?
If the rich want to own it all, then they need to pay for it all. If they want the system to continue to operate, they have to pay an equal share to their ownership of it. If they insist on owning everything, then they have to provide income, benefits and services to the people who actually do the work to keep the system running.
And if they are too greedy, too corrupt, and too insane to realize that the average people who keep their houses clean, their roads in repair, grow their food, and keep the lights on need to have decent lives, healthcare and retirement, they are responsible when the system breaks down, not the workers who are just trying to keep on going.
