(34,857 posts)Generally presidents enter Washington with some goodwill. Trump had a whole week devoted to the start of his presidency. This is his high water mark - it's all down hill from here. In a month, I wouldn't be surprised if he's below 40%.

(92,190 posts)that 44% approve of trump, is outrageously high
that only half approve of the marchers, is pathetic. Is the half that doesn't approve even know what first amendment is?

(25,316 posts)Fifty-one percent of voters described the speech as 'optimistic,' 46 percent of respondents say the speech was 'presidential,' and 44 percent say it was 'inspiring,' laying bare an alternative narrative that could have driven this weeks news cycle if the president had not started a multi-day debate about the crowd size on the National Mall.
Questions about Trumps performance at the inauguration were limited to the 1,762 people who said they watched the address, a sample thats slightly more Republican than the overall poll, although still skews Democratic.

I didn't listen to the speech. I only read the transcript. I have no idea how a sample can be slightly more Republican and skew Democratic.
I'm glad the women's march has higher approval than Trump!

(47,209 posts)Since Donald's campaign was always demonizing the media-and since they are fond of dirty tricks and pay-ops (crossing over to vote for Sanders in the primary, pretending to be lefty HRC haters on social media) I think they disrespect the results so much they like putting a wrench in the system. Think about how many flooded all those online polls for kicks, how many of them would take an MSM poll seriously?

(9,808 posts)Are you sure it's PPP? Their most recent are one on California and one on North Carolina.
It looks like those numbers are SPECIFIC to North Carolina, which has a higher than average Hair Twitler approval index.

My bet is national numbers are in the 30s.

(9,865 posts)....of the 34 and 38% will only have a big effect if our democrats in Congress and in offices across the country don't stand up to him fully using every resource they have.
No more reaching out to the Repugs. No more being nice. Okay to reach out to his besotted and deluded followers but not okay to compromise on policy at all.
