Generally presidents enter Washington with some goodwill. Trump had a whole week devoted to the start of his presidency. This is his high water mark - it's all down hill from here. In a month, I wouldn't be surprised if he's below 40%.

that 44% approve of trump, is outrageously high

that only half approve of the marchers, is pathetic. Is the half that doesn't approve even know what first amendment is?

Dems could do a better job keeping the pressure up on those fronts. Or mounting any pressure, for that matter.

10. Politico did a poll on his inaugural speech
Wed Jan 25, 2017, 10:15 PM
Jan 2017
Trump got relatively high marks on his Friday address, with 49 percent of those who watched or heard about the speech saying it was excellent or good, and just 39 percent rating it as only fair or poor. Sixty-five percent of those surveyed reacted positively to the “America First” message, the cornerstone of the Trump campaign and governing posture.

Fifty-one percent of voters described the speech as 'optimistic,' 46 percent of respondents say the speech was 'presidential,' and 44 percent say it was 'inspiring,' laying bare an alternative narrative that could have driven this week’s news cycle if the president had not started a multi-day debate about the crowd size on the National Mall.

Questions about Trump’s performance at the inauguration were limited to the 1,762 people who said they watched the address, a sample that’s slightly more Republican than the overall poll, although still skews Democratic.

I didn't listen to the speech. I only read the transcript. I have no idea how a sample can be slightly more Republican and skew Democratic.

I'm glad the women's march has higher approval than Trump!

Since Donald's campaign was always demonizing the media-and since they are fond of dirty tricks and pay-ops (crossing over to vote for Sanders in the primary, pretending to be lefty HRC haters on social media) I think they disrespect the results so much they like putting a wrench in the system. Think about how many flooded all those online polls for kicks, how many of them would take an MSM poll seriously?

Are you sure it's PPP? Their most recent are one on California and one on North Carolina.

It looks like those numbers are SPECIFIC to North Carolina, which has a higher than average Hair Twitler approval index.

Only 44% of voters have a positive opinion of Trump, to 49% who see him negatively. Even among those who voted for Trump in November, 14% don't have a favorable opinion of him. Obama meanwhile leaves office on a high note with 50% of voters approving of him to 47% who disapprove. When asked who they think will prove to be the better President, North Carolinians pick Obama over Trump 49/45.

My bet is national numbers are in the 30s.
