Since the women's march the GOP is pissed and determined to shut down protest or jail protesters. Base on an article on Alternet a Minnesota committee voted to allow the state to arrest and sue protesters if the police have to respond to a protest. The GOP is intent on making it criminal to protest. Perhaps this kind of law is unconstitutional but we now know that there is no law except GOP law based on all the lawlessness the GOP is already allowing.
The intent to put laws on the books against protesters in every state as soon as possible.
Anecdotally there were angry pro Trump/GOP counter protesters shouting to shut down the anti law protesters. Trump people seem to want to get rid of anyone protesting their own.

(10,602 posts)The GOP is going to shut down these protests and use Ferguson tactics to run. They will do what Governor Walker and the GOP did and make it illegal to assemble. Period. I do not think the American people know that Trump IS NOT the only monster.

Ths attempt at an end run would be a state action attempting to chill such speech, and is just as unconstitutional.
But remember - that report is of a committee. Even assuming that means an official committee of a legislative body, not just a private committee, that is a long way from a law.
