Malia Obama Joins Protest Against Trump DAPL Revival, Stands With Water Protectors

The daughter of former and much-beloved President Barack Obama has made her political leanings completely public now that she’s moved out of the White House.

Opting out of her parents Caribbean vacation, 18-year-old Malia Obama was seen standing up at a Dakota Access Pipeline protest in Park City, Utah.

Malia will be starting an internship with producer Harvey Weinstein beginning in February, according to the New York Daily News, before starting Harvard in the fall. This week, Malia attended the Sundance Film Festival with an eye to more than making connections in the entertainment industry.

A group of 100 people gathered in Park City to protest the revival of the project by new U.S. President Donald Trump. Despite freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall, Malia Obama joined the protester who were holding up signs that read: “Exist. Resist. Rise.” and “Impeach corporate control,” according to the Daily Mail.
