trump is playing right out of the Heritage Foundation Playbook...and this is only just started as they have only touch on a fraction of the "change" for america...considering 55% of voters voted against all of this....2018 is coming.....democrats must be ready to take back congress AT ALL COST....and the more conservatives do to destroy america and negatively impact american workers, families...the greater the price they will pay come 2018....no more excuses for not voting...WE outnumber THEM...time to take the fight to the state and local elections. Hopefully we have the liberal versions of the Koch Brothers to start funding the offense. We have to do what we can to survive. That may take some doing as Israel looking for a nudge to start war with Iran with suckering trump and his idiots in....the downside risk is pretty much brinks on nuclear annihilation....much to the joy of the christian evangelical zealots

(11,746 posts)It frustrates me to be in the majority and to have now 2 Democratic Senators and a Democratic Representative. I can pretty much just encourage people to vote Democratic.
Vote Democratic!

(4,835 posts)He had to stop running around with Romney and go back home because he was down in the polls.
I think he's vulnerable if some of his positions were better known in his district.
I was thinking Wisconsin had to redistrict because of gerrymandering too.

(6,409 posts)We will have to tolerate some stinky DINO regressives, much the same way we used to tolerate Dixiecrats. They will betray us at critical moments, but they have to vote party line on procedural votes, and we need that. For progressive Democrats, this is going to suck, but we have to do it to save our country.

(10,437 posts)democrats are a big party party and we all have SHARED goals that right now is being trashed by trump, the Hertigage foundationm and Breitbart....

(6,409 posts)In red-leaning states, we may have to support Democrats who act like Republicans, candidates who take money from bad people, candidates who will vote against us on abortion or gun control, etc.

(6,409 posts)How important is it to get Congress? How much variation from core principles will we tolerate? In the past, we embraced some candidates who were weak on supporting our core values, our president, etc. We need to get progressive Democrats in office, but they might have to find common cause with DINOs.

(4,835 posts)But you're right. We need to be the majority party, even if that means getting a few that fight the overall agenda.

(14,853 posts)That's apparently a big problem for many Democrats! No longer for me!
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/democrats-midterm-demographic-problem/
Historically, about 30 percent fewer people turn out for midterm elections than presidential 40 percent vs. 56 percent on average. Midterm voters tend to be more engaged, older, whiter, and wealthier than the population at-large or in presidential elections. In what is already a playing field tilted toward Republicans, the demography gives the GOP yet another edge. Base Democratic voters women, African Americans, Latinos, young voters are among the least likely to vote in midterm elections. That trend is likely to continue, as polls have shown many of those voters are the least interested in this election.

(531 posts)but it may be the only time that a significant amount of minorities feel motivated to vote in non-presidential elections together. This has been such a rotten lesson but I hope that the left is never so divided again.

(12,344 posts)There is a huge untapped field of voters out there who don't participate, don't get polled and are likely Democratic voters. Trump brought in a few of these people, but there are a lot more out there.

(10,437 posts)of the Koch Brothers....we have the voters...we just have too many lazy ones that don't get off their asses to vote...and we pay the price for it as we see now

(531 posts)I think Congress is where all our energy needs to be focused and never let them own the house and senate again...then we can do to them what they did to obama and just stymie every move they try to make...we could stop the casualties in 2018 if we do.

(50,270 posts)sure they get it. If it takes chartering buses to transport people from their neighborhoods to the one place in the county that issues the I.D. required to vote, we need to do it. I've also been reading about the new GOP plan to divvy up the electoral college votes in the same way they've gerrymandered congressional districts. That can't happen.
