Take to the streets and shut this country down

The time is now. Fascism is here, stand and fight for your country. They are coming for all of us. Make no mistake, after they dispatch the Muslims and Mexican immigrants they will come for the Liberals. Your life is in danger right now.

that Jan 21 was as close as we in America have ever come to approaching how France has protested not that long ago.

I know a lot of folks here were lamenting that Americans don't get that enthusastic, that motivated to get out on the streets. The March on Washington was a pretty good start. If they leave social media up long enough, it allows us to develop the flash mob protests like we're seeing on the muslim ban.

I no longer work, but a general strike seems like it would be just the ticket. I don't want to advocate violence, of course, especially since crowd violence all too often hits the wrong targets. But the new PTB are emasculating talk as a protest power.

When peaceful revolution is outlawed, violent revolution is inevitable.

I am more conflicted than I have ever been in my life. I do not think that this administration will respond to protest because Trump simply changes reality if he doesn't like it. I think the police will be excessively violent and are so militarized many people will get hurt badly. I have never felt this hopeless in terms of 'stand and be counted' before. I feel like the most important thing we can do is dump Congress and take back the house and senate. I feel like if we focused on that, it would bring about real change. I think this admin is just going to lock up protestors, but I don't feel it is going to be a persuasive means of changing policy.

I am really impressed by these airport protests. I have PTSD so I get too anxious. This is a crazed situation and you are right if he keeps going with a new disaster every single day, we will be Russiamerica in too years for sure.

I need to educate myself more on the history of such movements to know what is truly effective, but I'm tired of efforts that really amount to little other than mass virtue signalling parties. The woman's march was definitely a good jumpoff point in that it got people fired up, but it had little lasting impact on the day to day operations of the country and could therefore be brushed aside. Time to do something they can't just dismiss as "Bitter liberals throwing a temper tantrum because they lost the election." We need to disrupt these people's lives. How? I wish I had that answer.

The women's march seemed a bit like a street party and I wasn't in the mood to celebrate, plus there was the affiliation with Linda Sarsour who is openly pro-sharia law, something I will never affiliate with as a supporter of moderate and ex-muslim activists and apostates (and most of them can't stand her). So I was just like ho-hum during that as someone who marched in DC in the middle of the AIDS crisis and sweltered in the DC summer while act up was doing their die in in front of the white house. It all seemed like far too little too late. I know Trump will dismiss them all. I honestly believe though I know it is hopeless, that if we all called our congresspeople and harassed the living stuffing out of them every day and made them fear us it would help. But it is so hard to get anyone but seniors, mainly, engaged in politics at that level.

There are more us US than THEM. We must get Trump and his evil cronies out and call for a new election. Yes we can.

Stopping it at Standing Rock could be the decisive blow to Fascism in this country if there were enough of us. That should be point zero.

I was in Madison, WI for the big protest against Walker. I watched the protests over the country after Ferguson (my daughter was at that one, I taught her well by going to one at her high school when the Westboro people were there). The Women's Marches all over the world last Saturday. And now all the folks getting out there today at the airports.
I think we are ready.

My big thing this year is the eclipse that will cross the country. I am lucky to live in the path. I am hoping after this the people will realize that we are all on this planet together and we need to stand up and show the 1% that it is not all about them and their profits and the ways old industry (like coal and fossil fuels) are wrecking the planet.

Social media is a huge benefit here. We need people who are well known that have a voice. Michael Moore. Bernie. Shaun King. Joy Reid. Robert Reich. They have a lot of followers on social media and can put it together.

(I think I am crossing over from all the despair and feeling hope. I think we have the cause and I think more and more folks are feeling the momentum!)
