This may be old news, but I never considered that the lack of a mandate for Trump doesn't just come from the fact that he lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million in the head-to-head with Hillary Clinton. All told, he lost by far more:
Trump: 62,979,879
Hillary: 65,844,954
Johnson: 4,488,919
Stein: 1,457,044
Write-ins: 1,103,554
McMullin: 705,902
Other: 453,664
Non-Trump: 74,054,037
Difference: (11,074,158)
Way more people voted for Trump to go away than to be President.

(13,776 posts)I've never heard anyone refer to anything other than a 3-million-vote difference, either. Good point!

(12,809 posts)... an image I saw on twitter, but I couldn't link it here for some reason. I presume "Other" includes all the other even-lesser-known candidates with their hats tossed in the ring, and that "Write-ins" includes anyone who was not actually an official, filed candidate.

DU is calming me down tonight.
Trump will say there were 11 million "illegal" votes.
