All quiet on the dumbass front

I'm not seeing anything from the normal RW posters on Facebook.
Total meme and talking point blackout.

It was like that last weekend too. Finally they got some things together but not much.

Seeing anything?

4. When my asshats go quiet, they're ashamed.
Sun Jan 29, 2017, 08:57 PM
Jan 2017

It's one of the reasons I don't bait them directly. I'm highly reliable about liking or commenting on non-political posts, but when they go a-ranting, I either don't respond or give them a literal elipsis like this ...

I've learned that if I say something, their extremely primitive emotional brains get involved long before their rudimentary reasoning centers even get their shoes tied, and it's a week of ranty-McRanty-rant butthurt. But if I'm just quiet, they recognize disapproval without knowing of what exactly I'm accusing them. (And since I'm the one that keeps getting them into rehab and makes sure the taxes are paid on the places where they live and manages their trusts... they believe my approval matters. It actually doesn't -- I have to do it, regardless -- but I'm not telling them that. And I will use whatever leverage I have with my yahoos.)

So then, a few hours or days later (my asshats are some of the dumber sort -- bad education, poor motivation, way too much meth and jesus), their reason will start to catch up, they'll realize they sounded as dumb as they did, and it very very slowly nudges them towards not being completely asinine. And since they had to do all the work themselves, they have a much harder time blaming me for making them feel bad. I didn't say anything. I was just quiet.

So when my asshats aren't talking... I'm pretty sure they're well aware they've fucked up and aren't ready to Justify and Gaslight their 180, but are done defending their old position. And they will try to Gaslight that they never said that thing they said, but that's not worth rubbing in their faces. At most, that gets another elipsis. Once I get them to stop behaving like a bunch of Randroids from the planet Asshat, we'll start working on emotional and verbal honesty.

No, Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter didn't do the same thing as Donald Trump's Muslim ban

From The Mirror UK - some pop ups so I'm posting the text below.

What Donald Trump is doing (2017)
*Ban entry to the US for people born in seven majority Muslim countries - Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen - including holders of legal green cards and visas - for 90 days
*Suspending the Syrian refugee plan indefinitely
*Suspending entire refugee plan for 120 days
*Bans entry to the US for dual-nationality passport holders - meaning citizens of the above countries who also hold, for example, a British passport, are also banned for 90 days.
*Prioritize Christian refugees over Muslims
*Capped refugee total to 50,000
*Did it out of the blue
Trump came up with his Muslim ban following the Orlando nightclub shooting, an attack committed not by refugees or migrants, but by a US citizen who was born in New York.
*Of all the fatal terror attacks carried out on US soil since 9/11, exactly zero have been committed by immigrants from the seven majority Muslim countries targeted by the ban

What Barack Obama did (2011)
Paused approvals of refugee applications from Iraq for a period of six months after two Iraqi al-Qaeda terrorists were discovered living as refugees in Kentucky.

What he didn't do
*Base it on religion
Obama's order - which was done with very little fanfare - selected Iraqi nationals based on geography and a specific event, not religion.
*Do it out of the blue
It was done in response to a specific event, and to allow FBI agents enough to gather fingerprints from captured roadside bombs, which they used to toughen their refugee screening process

What Jimmy Carter did (1979)
Placed sanctions on Iran after they held 52 American diplomats hostage for 444 days
The sanctions included a block on all future visas issued to Iranian citizens

What he didn't do
*Base it on religion
The block was targeted at Iranian nationals, not Muslims
*Do it out of the blue
Carter's sanctions were the culmination of a long-running escalation of tensions between the US and Iran.

I keep vacillating between wanting to blast the shitheads with facts, and just being too damned tired and fed up to bother with it, since history tells me I'd be better served spening the afternoon hiting my hand with a hammer.. less painful, and would actually accomplish something.

What we need to push is not a muslim ban but a gun ban. Push this hard people. Is it not the time, we have a great momentum push this now. They want a ban so do we. No better time to push this against them. We cant get a gun ban they get no ethnic ban. Come on seriously people
