Hell, I don't know. I doubt if he'd shut down the entire Internet. The chaos that would ensue from a move like that would inconvenience him and his cronies as much or more than anyone else Individual sites like DU? You bet! We already got hacked on election day and obviously the new dictatorship is well aware of the benefits that hacking can reap for them. But if that should happen - well, I'm a veteran activist, cut my teeth on the Vietnam War Protests and Kent State. There was no Internet then, but we did have Walter Cronkite and TV. Plus telephones. The Traitor is not going to knock down the communication lines - again too inconvenient. They could listen in - more likely. Anyhow, after Kent State happened people were so enraged and grief stricken that we all just naturally came together. People would travel from one end of the country to the other just using their thumb. People would share food with one another, give complete strangers a place to crash on their living room floors. It was amazing. We managed to shut down almost every college and university in the United States. We the people have done it before, and we can do it again. Try to take heart with those thoughts. That's what I'm doing. That and I'm going to let my big old dog who wouldn't hurt a fly but can sure look scary to strangers come sleep on my bed tonight. Me and him - and now you, as well - against the world. Stay strong, my friend.

A lot of colleges and universities were shut down. People were pissed and angry. They were in shock and mourning.

I was frightened. Then, someone on my campus hung a big sign on the side of a building. It said, "You can't kill us all." I took heart from that.

Trump could slow things down and inconvenience us. But the Internet benefits businesses and is international. It would not work. I don't think that is even possible! The whole world would come to a halt. Just imagine the protests then!

We have ham radio and phones, even if someone hacks us. My son is a ham radio operator. And he is a Democrat.

We will always find a way to communicate. You and I came of age during a time when there was no social media. We relied on phone trees and word of mouth. We got shit done even though we had fewer ways to communicate. These damned kids! So spoiled! (I don't mean that, really. Most of them are great).

I'm proud of today's young folks too. We elders should share our experiences with them from time to time since you never know when that information might come in handy. Knowledge is power! I was at the University of Denver when Kent State came down. I found out about it that evening when I cramming for a chemistry exam. My roommate and I started to hear people shouting outside our windows. We ran outside and saw that our street was filled with people chanting, "GET OUT OF YOUR HOUSES AND INTO THE STREETS!" And we grabbed our coats and joined them. Better than the Internet, actually.

Resistance will be harder without the Internet, but history teaches us that it is not impossible.

Trump is an experiment in real life, largely, unplanned and exploiting personal media. He might survive without it but without the internet Trump does not have the infrastructure to sustain his brand of Fascism. The deplorables need to be fed in order to sustain Trump delusions. Watch for battles in net neutrality this is a full blown cyber war with a foreign power Trump-Russia and is a war we opponents to Trump-Russia are losing.

ego-centric power hungry monster but they can't shut down everything.. his fans would finally revolt.. then it would be the whole world against stupid.

As much as they're trying to take our Democracy away the Resistance will boomerang back in their collective smug ugly mugs.

Our society is built upon the internet. Your ability to buy anything, and a vendor's ability to sell something for cash or credit would disappear.

Countless businesses use VoIP for all calls. Stores couldn't process transactions.

So, I mean, if he found a switch that could cut it off, which doesn't exist, he could end our society i suppose, but I fail to see how that helps him.
