There was no one left at Justice in DC that was a confirmed position so I thought the same thing as the OP. I never imagined he would go trolling the US Attorneys offices.

(10,952 posts)yesterday and they were pretty clear that only Senate confirmed AG's can sign FISA warrants. There are now no senate confirmed employees at the AG's office.

And since I presume that you have read the relevant statute, could you explain to me how apparently now every single us attorney has the right to request a FISA warrant????

(1,499 posts)That the application be approved by the Attorney General (who has to personally certify that it has a good faith factual basis). It's not just confirmation, it's also the position.
I used to hold exactly the same opinion as you, btw. I'm just not sure I was right.

I had thought that the judges who are sitting on this court have to sign off on the warrant requests.
