Rep. Dave Brat: 'The women are in my grill no matter where I go'

http://www.richmond.com/news/virginia/article_b5124648-cdcc-560c-878e-19a19a354f46.html

Rep. Dave Brat, R-7th, is feeling some political pressure as Republicans in Congress move to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“Since Obamacare and these issues have come up, the women are in my grill no matter where I go,” Brat told an audience Saturday at a meeting of conservative groups at Hanover Tavern.

“They come up — ‘When is your next town hall?’ And believe me, it’s not to give positive input.”

---claims all the people in his grill are being paid ---

“Over the past couple of weeks my office has been inundated with phone calls, and emails and comments on social media requesting a town hall meeting, and believe me, I fully intend to have plenty of town halls that are open and transparent as soon as our first 100 days agenda is implemented and we come up for a breath of air,” he wrote.

and it pisses me off even more. You know what gets in one's grille? Insects, that's what. I'm assuming he means grille as in the front part of the car, not his Weber. If it's his Weber, does he mean hot dogs?

And I just heard some apologist on CNN talking about how all the protesters are from the same organization, that it's all very well planned and paid for, and therefore not worth worrying about.

FUCK THEM

If my etymological recollection is correct it's from hip-hop lingo: "grill" sort of generally refers to teeth, expanded from a more specific meaning of jewelry/metalwork worn on the teeth. Brat is just showing us how edgy and with-it he is...

from the fact that all that metal looks like the grill on a car--and I was mistaken about the spelling. "Grill" and "grille" are interchangeable if you're talking about a metal grating. A Weber is still a grill, though.

I think it means a little more than "in his face"--I think it means an insignificant yet annoyingly persistent and unpleasant presence that you just can't ignore. I like the idea of being in his grill(e), after all.

Ashland Va is just North of Richmond. They call themselves "The Center of the Universe". Lily white suburbs with overly quaint little stores. Randolph-Macon (where Brat taught) is there - it was basically a safety school for the Deadhead types in Richmond private schools. At least it was in the 90's.

Brat's about as edgy as an Osmond.
