(454 posts)I'm not a fan at all of consumerism, but I still had the thought that the more we can encourage advertising that is good and wholesome, the more we can get the influences of bigotry and hatred out of our country.

(15,550 posts)Conservatives were so pissed off at America the Beautiful being sung in different languages by people who also dared to be brown, that they totally missed the married gay couple and their daughter roller skating in the middle of it. Seriously. It took them a day to notice it. I had to point it out to several conservative friends on Facebook, and it just made them angrier.

(3,847 posts)I was watching a football game with my Trump-loving buddy and this commercial came on. As soon as the Muslim woman came on the screen, he nearly lost his shit. He started shouting, "Of course there's a Muslim! There's ALWAYS gotta be a Muslim! Fuck Coke!" That's when I knew that he had completely transformed himself from the person I used to know into a full-fledged Trump Cult member. Oh, and by the way, earlier in the night, there was a Hillary commercial aired (the one where she played clips of awful things Trump has said about women), and when some really vile comments were played, my friend turned to me and said, "Yeah, he said those things about Rosie O'Donnell. It's not like he said them about an actual human being or anything. He was talking about Rosie O'Donnell." This used to be a good friend of mine. I lost a ton of respect for him after that day, and it actually got worse than that as more time passed.
