He doesnt like this sh*t: Trump reportedly hates his job and his staff after less than a month

Source: Rawstory

After just three weeks on the job, President Donald Trump is reportedly frustrated with the realities of trying to run the U.S. government the way he manages his family-owned business.

Politico interviewed nearly two dozen people who have spent time with the former real estate developer and reality TV star since his inauguration — and they said Trump’s “mood has careened between surprise and anger as he’s faced the predictable realities of governing,” according to the report.

“The interviews paint a picture of a powder-keg of a workplace where job duties are unclear, morale among some is low, factionalism is rampant and exhaustion is running high,” Politico reported. “Two visitors to the White House last week said they were struck by how tired the staff looks.”

Trump would like to shake up his White House staff less than a month into the job but knows it’s too soon, the website reported, and aides joke that the president would like to spend even more time golfing at his Mar-A-Lago resort.

1. And yet Obama

endured 8 years of it, most of it in far more trying conditions due to holding a minority government, and did it with class and dignity.

I'm sure Drumpf is just so used to issuing a decree as the head of his company and that's the end of the story. It's wonderful that he's getting a taste of checks and balances now, making him unable to run the country based entirely on executive orders (something he criticized Obama for doing).

biographer.

Cant read or write. Has no idea about real estate, golf courses, hotels. He hires people who know some stuff, then he lies and steals and so on.

Voting for him makes you the dumbest person alive.

not just books, but any memos from WH staff, procedure manuals advisories , daily briefings, that #ComradeTrump 's ideas of procedure were gleaned from watching TV.

He's frustrated to learn the truth varies substantially from TV shows.

His lack of reading may also help explain his VERY limited vocabulary (emphasis on the very because he uses that adverb all the time).

215. I hope Obama is tweeting his fun vacation photos at 45!

I knew 45 was in for a rude awakening, not having any on the job experience of governing nor holding elected office previously.

This isn't fun for him, and he doesn't like pressure and hard work. He liked it better when he was in charge of his company and could summon a juice box from one of his servants with the mere flick of his tiny hand.

Maybe that's how we should select our candidates. Call up people, ask them if they are registered to vote and eligible to run and them throw a bunch of random people in. I'm sure they could not be worse than Trump.

The 45 Administration is a virtual gold mine for comics. Actually, it is the only gift from #45.

He completely freaked out about the Melissa McCarthy skit, bitched about it for days, was angry at Spicer for being seen as "weak"
and for being bested by a WOMAN!.
Spicer had 2 jobs..Dir. of Communications and Press secretary. Now he is being demoted to Press Sec. only, while they look for a Comm. Dir.

Trump cannot bear to lose or being seen as a loser, cannot bear to be laughed at. SNL is our strongest weapon right now.

Now he finds out that his powers have limits.

That this job is actually complicated, hard and stressfull.

That he cannot "walk away" from problems just as he used to do as a developer.

That comedy and criticism punch upwards. And one cannot punch higher than the POTUS.

The whole purpose of a decent, functioning government is to attempt to meet the needs of as many people as possible. That is what they call it public service. They do not call working in the private sector public service, because the goals are inherently different.

10. Here is the Politico write-up:

Being president is harder than Donald Trump thought, according to aides and allies who say that he’s growing increasingly frustrated with the challenges of running the massive federal bureaucracy.

In interviews, nearly two dozen people who’ve spent time with Trump in the three weeks since his inauguration said that his mood has careened between surprise and anger as he’s faced the predictable realities of governing, from congressional delays over his cabinet nominations and legal fights holding up his aggressive initiatives to staff in-fighting and leaks.

The administration’s rocky opening days have been a setback for a president who, as a billionaire businessman, sold himself to voters as being uniquely qualified to fix what ailed the nation. Yet it has become apparent, say those close to the president, most of whom requested anonymity to describe the inner workings of the White House, that the transition from overseeing a family business to running the country has been tough on him.

Trump often asks simple questions about policies, proposals and personnel. And, when discussions get bogged down in details, the president has been known to quickly change the subject — to "seem in control at all times," one senior government official said — or direct questions about details to his chief strategist Steve Bannon, his son-in-law Jared Kushner or House Speaker Paul Ryan. Trump has privately expressed disbelief over the ability of judges, bureaucrats or lawmakers to delay — or even stop — him from filling positions and implementing policies.

he had that messy Constitution to contend with or that the other two branches of government were equal to the Executive branch.

This underscores the folly of putting an ignoramus in charge, someone who is all bluster without the requisite knowledge or experience of governance. The Man Who Would Be King is discovering the limitations and pressures of the job.

Boo Hoo.

Something else that struck me with all the brouhaha over the travel/Muslim ban. Trump, despite all his crowing, does not have an A-team working for him. What was exposed in the decision last night was how sloppy the EO turned out to be and how unprepared the legal team was to defend it.

Here's hoping the pressure continues to mount on this arrogant fool.

What's absolutely unforgivable is that Trump risks the well being of a nation of over 300 million just so he can play, "Ain't I great!" His entire campaign and the election was a waste of our time and energy as a nation. Now he's pouting because he has to WORK, when all he wanted to do is sit in a gold gilded chair and point his finger at his subordinates to get things done. Three hundred million people are now under this asshole's thumb and he never wanted the job to begin with. He only wanted the title. What a prick.

Now if he says, "I'm the greatest. I'm doing a terrific job," and the American people tell him, "You suck!"...well, he sucks. His own opinion of his performance is irrelevant.

Stern said that he never thought Trump wanted the job, he just wanted to squeeze some more money out of NBC.

Trump loves the social life including hobknobbing with celebrities. He is now locked in to the White House and Hollywood is both verboten to him (supporter backlash) and Hollywood wants nothing to do with him.

Not that Stern is all knowing but I think he nailed it on this one.

Trump got to this miserable place because millions of people he wouldn't be caught dead with in public either thought he was the shit or realized he was just as cruel at heart as they are. The phrase, "God writes straight with crooked lines," comes to mind. It's almost comforting, until you realize all the damage he's still capable of doing.

after all, donnie is the "shock jock" presidency. his campaign worked as well as it did for much the same reason as howard's career -- even people who hated him couldn't stop listening because they were dying to find out what outrageous thing he'd say next.

aside from that, they both know quite a bit about self-promotion, and donnie's been on stern's show a few times.

And conservatives - at least the ones I've known - don't do "complicated".

Black and white, good and evil, USAUSAUSA, and all the answers are either in the Buy-bull or Atlas Shrugged.

If you go through life accordingly, and then bump into glittering, hard-edged, razor-sharp reality, it's unpleasant at any age.

This is particularly true when you're a 70-year-old man-baby, separated from reality by money and arrogance your entire life.

Some conservatives adjust accordingly, most don't.

Different skill-set entirely . . . one that Orange Lincoln Rockwell is woefully unprepared for.

A cabinet loaded with fellow CEOs and wealthy people . . . many of them ALSO unprepared for what governing entails . . . were never going to do what is right for the non-wealthy, the employees, the customers, the poor, the working moms, the retirees, children, etc. etc. etc. It's mostly because they never had to WORRY about such nonsense in the business world.

This is why I never want to hear some yokel know-nothing fuck proselytize about how "Americur needs t'be run like uh bizness" because some equally know-nothing dumbass on Faux or deadbreitbart.com told him so.

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/12/nyregion/donald-trump-atlantic-city.html?_r=0

After narrowly escaping financial ruin in the early 1990s by delaying payments on his debts, Mr. Trump avoided a second potential crisis by taking his casinos public and shifting the risk to stockholders.

And he never was able to draw in enough gamblers to support all of the borrowing. During a decade when other casinos here thrived, Mr. Trump’s lagged, posting huge losses year after year. Stock and bondholders lost more than $1.5 billion.

55. Let's factor in here too that he is doing maybe 20% of the job

He is mostly a photo-op POTUS. There is an office just off the Oval where most POTUS's do their actual work. The Oval tends to be for some meetings but mostly for less functional activities and, frankly, intimidating people. I've read several accounts of fierce proponents having the wind taken out of their sails upon entering the Oval. It sounds like Trump just sits in there all day to establish that he's the boss.

Anyone whose taken any new position, especially in a new industry (story of my life), closed their door and starts pouring through the paperwork. If in a position of authority/supervision you do a meet-n-greet letting everyone know you are there. Then it's back to the office. Read read read organize organize organize. Meet with people to get insight and what roles everyone has. THEN come out with your plan and communicate to the staff around you. Trump appears to have done exactly the opposite including not having a staff. The "Beachhead teams" Pence spoke about were complete BS.

His whole career has been a world swirling around him and his petulant decisions. Of late, since Mark Burnett basically saved him, these are really deciding on window dressings menus and staff uniforms not massive construction or acquisitions.

39. priveleged white man hard.

There he is saying the job is so hard, it's tough. What would he have done if Obama left him the same economy that Bush left him? I mean, he would have to actually do something other than sign executive orders.

Obama left him with an economy that has vastly improved, the housing market doing well, the unemployment rate below 5%.The republicans are in power of all 3 houses, they are doing trumps bidding. He is getting all his wish list for all his appointments. No filibusters and certainly not any meaningful pushback from the media. Seriously, he is calling this hard?

Obama had a crashing economy, republicans filibustered, obstructed and lied about everything for 8 years. Yet he somehow managed to do his job without whining about it being hard.

The government institutions are managing to keep it alive, despite his best efforts.

If you had to bring in a businessman to run a superpower, it would be best if it were someone from a long-established multinational. Tillerson would no doubt be more competent as president than Trump.

an eventual psychotic break once in office since about three days after the election. I don't think we will necessarily know it, however, because they will hide it. I think the key will be when we don't actually see him live anymore and what is attributed to him starts sounding rational. I'm still convinced Ivanka and Kushner are sane and will be the string pullers when he finally falls off the ledge on which he has been teetering. Can't quite figure what they will do with Bansputin, whom I don't imagine has a huge constituency, those types rarely do.

who made fun of him at the Correspondent's dinner--that Trump was his equal.

The sooner he resigns or is removed from office, the better. Unfortunately, Pence will not really be an improvement
in terms of policy and fu*king the country. Pence may at least not insult allies or go rogue throwing nukes at some country
because of something they do he doesn't like.

I should hope--if we survive the Trump/Pence regime--that we as a country will learn something in terms of vetting candidates
for POTUS. There needs to be more required of candidates than reaching a certain age and being a natural born citizen.

Bush appointee disagreed with you along the way. Foreign countries, you want them to fall in line, good luck with that. China is not having it. You don't want to follow procedure, you pay for it. 134. This is what we need to tell any conservative who equates being a CEO with being president

There are some parallels between business administration and public administration and the study of public administration being the younger of the two, takes a good deal of the research from business administration analyzes it, and uses the parts that fit within the parameters of the subject (mostly leadership, quality control, and some organizational dynamics information). The two fields however, are fundamentally different because the aims of administering a business are fundamentally different from the aims of administering a government agency or a public trust agency.

For all of those people who want the country run like a business, the answer is to look back at the track records of presidents who came from the private business sector, those would be Herbert Hoover, Andrew Johnson, George W Bush, and Warren Harding. Jimmy Carter was a successful farmer and Harry Truman ran his own business too, but he was not a good businessman and went into politics to earn a living. Carter I would say, is a bit of an outlier. His presidency was not a great success, but it wasn't a failure either. I would say that what sets Carter a bit apart from some of the other good for business/bad for government crowd was that Carter had experience in the military and as a religious person (in the actual mold of Christian service) he did public service and was not a CEO president.

The United States is not a business. The business of the United States is not business. Business is necessary for the economy but the economy is supposed to be about the well being of the people of the country not solely for the purpose of making some people incredibly rich.

Government is complex because people have differing and sometimes opposing needs. The people come together and appoint representatives to try to make policy that will meet those needs and balance the costs and benefits to all.

A CEO of a for profit business does not do any of the things mentioned above. They are about making money. Not that every for profit CEO is a monster or greedy, unethical person; but the goal of businesses is to make money and however that happens, whether through cutting employees, cutting corners on production, competing with other businesses to put them out of business, etc... They use every tool at their disposal, and they play at the boundaries of the law and ethics to stay ahead of the competition.

Trump is the culmination of the idea of the CEO president and we are seeing the effects, not even a month into his term. He wants to be in charge like a CEO but he is not CEO he is a public servant and there are rules, and laws, and a whole philosophy about governing in a constitutional democratic form of government that he does not understand or accept.

146. No it is not.

I got a degree in public administration and so it is instilled in me just how fundamentally different the two are regardless of sharing some components of thought.

I would never advocate this ... EVER, but it has occurred to me from time to time in moments of frustration, that only people who have experience or education in public administration, should be in office. Of course that would ruin democracy. It just gets very frustrating when you hear people talking about issues and you think, "How would that look in policy?" "Who are the constituents being served? Hurt?" "Has there been any cost benefit analysis?" All you get are platitudes, and often lies from conservatives, especially when they talk about policies that were already in effect decades ago or further back, and failed miserably.

148. I could size up a crowd, tell them what they want to hear, and make them love me

I've been a speaker at Chamber of Commerce meetings, Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, you name it.

I have the ability to stand in front of a crowd, read the room, know what they like, what they don't like, I do not manipulate the room. But I also steer clear of what I know won't play well, and I only make promises I know I can deliver.

I have had much success with this. Some of my best clients were the result of individuals walking up to me after my talk and asking me to take a look at their existing Website, or build a new one.

Problem is that Trump did those rallies, primarily to receive instant gratification and adulation, and became addicted to that. Once he stepped into the machine, everything changed, and his staffers are undermining him with leaks, because they know they are working for a prick, and after over 35 years in the private sector before starting my own business, it is a guarantee that employees will screw over a boss they don't like at every available opportunity, and they do this with stealth, and they are never caught, because the are of "one mind," and often smarter than the boss who thinks he is in control of it all.

He deserves 100% of what he is feeling because he is the creator of it all. If he didn't know shit and treated his staffers with respect, they would cover for him. But career politicians, especially Republicans, see their own futures on the line as well. That's why people like Priebus and Ryan are so non-committal when asked about Trump's remarks. They know they can't screw him publicly, so they simply let him hang himself with his own rope.

156. Caught between Schadenfreude and terror here. This is exactly what we predicted based on...

...everything known about the Trojan Horse's psychology. Or psychopathology.

The Mad King and his courtiers have never had anything to do with a democracy and had no clue about the USA's co-equal branches of government and how it is really really NOT like running a business.

The Mad King needs to go back to his Golden Tower asap. I don't care if he leaves in a huff, a limosine, or a paddy wagon. I just want him gone.

I'm finding this "administration" (it's not legitimate, in my view, it's an anti-government administration - Washington is not a toy) increasingly disturbing to the point that I don't even comment that much anymore about it.

173. Amazing he didn't realize what the job was.

Did he not realize what the job would entail? Most politically minded people have a sense of what the job requires, I think. Your time is not your own, your days are scheduled by others, the press criticizes you daily, other politicians criticize you daily, vacations are criticized, the cost of everything you do is scrutinized because it's on the taxpayer's dime, your spouse is lonely, you get calls around the clock, there are emergencies all over the world that you need to know about or take action on, you have to deal with the complex economy, and so on.

This is a man who has not really worked much of his life (in the sense that most people work). His time has been his own, the cost didn't matter since he was rich and paying for it (tax deductible, too! If he paid taxes, which he doesn't), can take off any time he likes and go golfing or to his other houses, living in grand style in gilded mansions.

I've noticed he has aged already, and it's only been 3 weeks. He's pretty old, too.

Ben Carson, Betsy De Vos.

A lot of that going around.

He better get into figurehead mode soon, or he is going to stroke out. No public interaction unless it is carefully choreographed, but I don't think he can psychologically do that.

If we have some type of disaster that will be difficult to pawn onto someone else, he is going to crack like an egg.

mostly anything he wanted while growing up. He never worked for anyone other than his Father, so he was always the boss thus always got his own way. As he has said, Id say do it and they say YES SIR! To find himself in a position where people who he believes to be inept can control HIS actions is unthinkable!

I wonder how long it will be before he flat out calls it quits? I don't think a long time. It will begin to affect his health and he sill HAVE to back away. I bet the Pence is drooling at the thought! How lucky could a guy like hi get? He was set lose his governor election, and now he just MIGHT be top dog!

I want to see the Con gone, but I'm sure not looking forward to Prez Pence!

I would recommend some fiber if it would help loosen it up so as to prevent brain damage due to a lack of oxygen but sadly its to late for that.

Yes, its an important position and it comes with alot of power but it does have limits and one of those limits is it does not grant you the powers of a king where your every proclamation is law.

Give Hillary Clinton a call. She'd be happy to do the job either replacing one of your worthless appointees/vice president with A title or without. In fact you could keep the title of president and just do the ceremonial stuff and she would do the real work. Everyone could politely referred to you as president not her. All of us Who can't stand you now would be very kind to you if you did this. And you could golf all day long if you wanted

and then get to do the job of the Queen of England. I honestly think he thought he was applying for the job of Head of State ONLY...A figurehead to entertain foreign dignitaries and keep up National Morale, and someone else (Pence, Prebius, Bannon) would actually run his Government for him. Now, it's entirely possible to actually approach the Presidency this way, but to pull it off you would have to be a hell of a lot more governmentally savvy then His Orangeness would be after a thousand lifetimes worth of Epic Fails....let me put this another way: George W Bush very nearly pulled this off, as Cheney ran most of the Government and Jr did mostly nothing right of his own volition.

That's how much better George was at this job than Trump is. AND THAT'S FUCKING TERRIFYING.

Ha!

I never thought he wanted the job. I believe Howard Stern. But if he really didn't, he should have said something before the Electoral College voted. I believe he committed treason by conspiring with the Russians to win the election. And then he was too beholden to Russia to back out.

I think the GOP knows that no other Republican could have been elected, so they are biding their time.

It makes me crazy that the country that I love has been taken over by the 1%. I always knew they were a powerful force, but I never imagined they'd actually be in charge.
