The White House Hillbillies

Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Trump
Inherited a fortune just for sittin' on his rump
And then one day he was cursing Mexicans
When up through the ground came some pissed Republicans

Teabaggers, that is
Red necks
G-O-P

Well, the first thing you know, ol' Trump's a candidate
The knuckle draggers said, hey, this is really great
We're gonna build a wall and we're gonna make 'em pay
And kick out all the Muslims on the very next day

Jerks, that is
Prejudiced
Gullible

Well, now it's time to say goodbye to Trump and Kelly and Steve
And they would like to thank you folks for bein' so naive
You're all invited back so we can promise crazy stuff
And have a heapin' helpin' of our promise-breakin' guff

Bullshit, that is
Hot air
Empty heads
Y'all come back now, ya hear?

I guess on DU it's OK to be hateful toward Appalachians.

Me being one... one who comes from poor hill country people... one who's ancestors include "Jed Clampett" types who just tried to do they best they could with what little they had and not hurt anyone along the way.....

Well let me just say... you all should be ashamed of yourselves.

AND - Hair Herr's family shares not one single value with any of my kin. Not one. So not only are you a bunch of bigots, but you are also wrong.

My family is from the extreme north end of your Appalachians. We are from the Laurentians. (North of Maine) The same hills, the same poor people, the same type of excellent music in many cases.

I do not see this as anything other than an attack on Trump.

cultural or minority group. For many, a good beat down on the poor and distressed at the bottom is true enjoyment, Almost Heaven in fact.

As I recall from watching this series during my misspent youth, they were from another part of the country.
So, I checked Wikipedia and found this:

...the state from which the Clampetts move to California is never revealed. Although it is mentioned in several episodes they are from the Ozarks, there are various, sometimes conflicting, clues found in certain episodes, but most lean towards southern Missouri or northern Arkansas.

I'm asking as an expatriated, fellow Kentuckian, please check your information before you accuse anyone of bigotry, especially here.

Denigration of hill billys, rednecks, Southerners, Okies, Texas, etc. is fairly glib on this site and often goes unchallenged. Many wonderful folks can outwardly fit those categories, yet embody all the finest characteristics we call progressive regardless of specific locale.

That being said, it appears that the OP is making a "fish out of water" comment, not a regional slam. Reworking the Green Acres theme could work as well to highlight the dilemma of City Slickers being brought low by the locals which is probably more apropos for the current occupant. It certainly seems like Eb and Ralph are at work in the WH.

BTW my background fits most of those categories.

Maybe Willie or Dixie Chicks.
If not, mayb I can help get you a band.

Thank you!

I used to play The Ballad. Favorite TV show, but my mom usually made me go to bed right before it came on.
Love the Appalachian music too.
