Let's not forget that a super PAC tied to Paul Ryan used material provided by Russia's hacking of the DNC and DCCC.
It was known that Russia had stolen material from the DNC and DCCC and a Paul Ryan Super PAC and as well as other Republican groups used it.
It wasn't just Hillary Clinton being attacked. It wasn't just Trump benefiting. There's potentially more collusion than just that between Trump's team and Russia.
Yes, this was reported in mid-December, but it bear repeating:
snip
By September, Guccifer 2.0 had expanded his releases to include documents related to House races in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Ohio, Illinois and North Carolina, working with individual political bloggers like Miscellany Blue in New Hampshire.
snip
Guccifer 2.0 even posted a cache of confidential documents focusing on Representative Ben Ray Luján, Democrat of New Mexico, the chairman of the D.C.C.C., who faced no serious challenger this year. Mr. Luján said it was a clear effort to send a message to the party leadership that the hackers wanted to try to hurt Democrats at all levels of the party, from lesser known races in Florida to the leadership
After the first political advertisement appeared using the hacked material, Mr. Luján wrote a letter to his Republican counterpart at the National Republican Congressional Committee urging him to not use this stolen material in the 2016 campaign.
The N.R.C.C.s use of documents stolen by the Russians plays right into the hands of one of the United States most dangerous adversaries, Mr. Lujáns Aug. 29 letter said. Put simply, if this action continues, the N.R.C.C. will be complicit in aiding the Russian government in its effort to influence American elections.
Ms. Pelosi sent a similar letter in early September to Mr. Ryan. Neither received a response. By October, the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC tied to Mr. Ryan, had used the stolen material in another advertisement, attacking Mr. Garcia during the general election in Florida.
AshLee Strong, a spokeswoman for Mr. Ryan, said he did not control how the material was used in the ad, although she did not dispute that the material had been stolen as part of an act of Russian espionage. Speaker Ryan has said for months that foreign intervention in our elections is unacceptable, she said in a written statement.

Unless there is an obvious coordination with the SuperPAC there is a safe separation.

A raving lunatic is in charge, and the gop LOVES it. They are pushng through their agenda (screwing the little guy) so fast, it is mind boggling. For 8 tears, they blocked President Obama, did the least work of any previous congress. Now they have the fat orange crazy man/child in office they are giddy with excitement.

(12,904 posts)They were warned not to use stolen information by their Democratic counterparts in September, 2016.
And still, they persisted.
I think the timing of the warning would rule out possible complicity as a cause of the "ashen" faces after today's briefing, as well. They've been aware of, and documented, the Republican complicity since September, 2016. These actions should not have come as a shock to any of them.
There's a bigger story.

(86,650 posts)I just didn't recognize the pathway until recently. They are all complicit and most know about it and felt confident enough of the cover that they could go out and be smug about it. Don't forget that there are a pile of Wall Streeters in on this con too. They thought they had all the bases covered and they were wrong.

Ryan and the Brown Shirts are as guilty as all involved. 'Strongly' worded letters don't seem to work with traitors. We really need to have press conference rather than let the GOP know what we will do.

Without a bi-partisan, totally independent Congressional investigation of these criminal acts, nothing will be done about it.
Once again, the Rethugs stole an election..this time with the help of a foreign adversary, and yet NOTHING will be done about it, because it's "Animal Farm" and "the pigs are in charge."

(27,820 posts)This "cyber-attack" was no less of a "sneak attack" on the U.S. than Pearl Harbor was.
The direct result of this "sneak" cyber-attack on the U.S. was that the Republicans kept control of both the House and Senate, and were able to install a deranged, pathological liar in the White House.
And the worst part is - THEY GOT AWAY WITH IT!
These evil Republicans will NEVER allow a truly "independent" investigation of this matter, simply because THEY DON'T HAVE TO - They control both Houses of Congress!
Yet, in spite of all the evil done by the Russians, by Trump, and by GOP Congressional leaders (like House Speaker Eddie Munster and Senator McTurtle),
HILLARY CLINTON STILL WOULD HAVE DEFEATED TRUMP,
were it not for FBI Director Comey's clear violation of the Hatch Act, by sending that letter to Congress just 11 days before the election.
THAT's the part that pisses me off the most!
