Now they're speculating about John Bolton!

(4,247 posts)Quote from Bolton: "There's no such thing as the United Nations. If the U.N. secretary building in New York lost 10 stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference."

(27,451 posts)He's a war mondering lunatic and it would prove Trump isn't the America First isolationist he claims to be.

(11,257 posts)I think you are generally right though. Bannon gets a pass for other reasons.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,741 posts)and that could be problem as far as Trump is concerned because Russia and Iran are allies and trading partners. Iran gets military equipment from Russia, and the two countries' have deals for energy production. Putin wouldn't like it if Trump tries to get too tough on Iran.

The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,741 posts)Yes, he had loose lips with regard to his girlfriend, but for the most part he was fairly well-regarded in his previous positions in the military. At least he was smart enough to decide that working for Trump's NSA, especially with Bannon in it, trying to call the shots, would have been a miserable gig and a likely career-ender.

(1,474 posts)Seems like a rare thing, but today's GOP does not reflect conservative values. Petraeus made mistakes, but who has not? Some conservatives are not thugs. I can disagree with someone's politics and still respect them. Voter suppression, dishonesty, and greed is the modus operandi of today's GOP, but maybe Petraeus is an honest man who loves his country.
