Sen. Claire McCaskill says she may face 2018 primary, compares Democratic base to Tea Party

No surprise.

(CNN)Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill said on Thursday that she may face a primary before the 2018 mid-term elections, comparing calls for ideological purity from the Democratic base to the conservative Tea Party movement of the Obama era.

I guess she would do well to remember what the Tea Party did to old school republicans. bravenak Feb 2017 #1

Time for her to stand with us. I think the ones who keep trying to distance themselves from the resistance will lose their seats for good reason.

But, I understand why someone would want to. She used to be a big believer in primaries when she ran against our Democratic governor in 2004. She weakened him and Roy Blunt's son was elected, and he is the one who drove MO veered so far right.

Many politicians have recently discredited constituents that aren't happy with them but they were all GOPee-ers.

What are these purists thinking?? She is not that bad and a generally solid vote. Missouri is a right wing state. No liberal is going to win a general election here. If trump is a disaster she may pull out a 2-3 point win only because she is a moderate.

This purity issue is now going to influence the Democratic party.

The purity test has already influenced the GOP - resulting in a Donald.

There no longer is a center.

When will there be civil war?

The Democrat who ran in 2016, was a republican when he was in the senate. He switched in 2007 to run for AG. A Democrat had held that seat for a long time and he knew he had a better chance as a Democrat.

Unsurprisingly, republicans swept the executive branch because Harry Truman was correct... "The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat... "

People aren't demanding purity. They just want a Democrat who is closer to the center.
