If you use the language of a fascist tyrant, are you not one?

Donald Trump is busy calling the media "enemies of the people," a phrase always popular with tyrants. However, our media are protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution that is the framework for our system of government.

Donald Trump does not like the media. They are pointing out his failings and the boundaries which he is overstepping. They are calling him to account for his lies and misrepresentations. No wonder he dislikes them.

But, Donald, they are not the "enemies of the people." Not at all. You may consider them your enemies, but you cannot suppress the media and still live up to the oath you swore at your inauguration. The Constitution you swore to honor and protect specifically names the press, which is now the media, as something to be protected, not attacked.

You are simply wrong, Mr. Trump. That's nothing new for you, but it remains the truth.

to criticize media outlets all he wants, just like any other citizen does. If he tries to shut them down or lock up journalists, that's a different story.

To call the press fake without fact or reason is merely an attack disguised in false chacterization. It is not a criticism and protected as free speech itself. It is an affront on our free press and in opposition to our Constitution.
