folks we are in an area where masses of people believe the truth is a lie.

This is some scary shit.

I'm not sure how we get passed this... but I damn well hope it is quick, or we are in for a complete re-alignment of our principles and standing in the world.. in not a good way.

Incompetent people do incompetent things. And incompetent things lead to bad outcomes.

people are chipping away at it though, person by person: in conversations. We gotta be brave and communicate.

I have bernie and anti trump stickers on my ranger and i've had two conversations with strangers at two convenience stores in the last two days. i usually get in:

this looks like germany in 1933 and we're being turned into a totalitarian police state kleptocracy. and we all got to keep talking to each other. i try to inject "civics" into every single person i interact with. except for some friends/relatives i've learned are contentious conservatives with so much prejudice against liberals its impolite to discuss things like that with them.

i got real good oppo research on facebook. My goodness they think we're all in on a big side hustle funded by evil genius George Soros.

A very large contingent of Americans, consisting of tens of millions of people already predisposed to conservative ideology, have been systematically brainwashed over the past several decades by persistent and inflammatory right wing hate radio and television.

The result is an America that has been conditioned to disbelieve anything but for the messaging of their media outlets. They can say that it's day when in fact it's night; that left is right and up is down...and that Obama left Trump a mess, or that Trump has been extraordinary since Inauguration Day.

They can say that because they believe it.

Our. People. Are. Sick.

They are the guinea pigs in a horrible social engineering experiment perpetrated to secure votes for Republican candidates.

Trump is the symptom. The American people are ill. There is likely no cure, at least no effective short-term cure.

To suggest that only the right uses propaganda/messaging is absurd.

To say that the Left needs to get a whole lot better at tailoring its message to different groups of people is accurate.

But I believe that at some moment in time, the truth will overwhelm the self-deceptions that people have created in their political realities, and the denial of the truth will be defeated.

‘When we act, we create our own reality’, a senior Bush advisor, thought to be Karl Rove, told the New York Times in a quote Ferraris zeroes in on, ‘and while you’re studying that reality – judiciously, as you will – we’ll act again, creating other new realities’.
