Trump can't fire Bannon. That would be like Pinocchio firing Geppeto.

I actually stole that line from Randi Rhodes who said it about Bush firing Karl Rove. But it's true. Qualified potential NSA picks turning down the job if President Bannon is involved...

"President Trump “won’t guarantee that his next national security adviser will have full control over staffing and process, a move that is shortening the list of people willing to take the job at a tumultuous moment for the new administration,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“Retired Vice Adm. Bob Harward and retired Gen. David Petraeus have dropped out of consideration for the critical post… Both candidates have cited concerns about staffing and independence.”

They do not necessarily want him out for all the reasons we do, but who cares? It's a start and then Bannon must be banned from the White House too.

Ask Aristus. He knows. Gepetto was a bit of a bungler, but was not evil at heart. Iago OTOH....

you're right, the average Repub would not understand a Shakespearean reference, or at least would not recognize it as such. Frankly, I think the typical Trumplodyte is meeting a lower bar than that, if possible.

Fact is, our cinematic and stage arts are literally enfused with "Shakespearean" links. Well, except for the shoot-em-up, blow-em-up violence porn genre, maybe, but any decent movie/play that actually tries to depict some real drama through character and dialogue tend to use the old standards that actually date back to before Shakespeare.

There is nothing new under the sun.
