Trump filed his paperwork for his reelection campaign within hours of inauguration, and today's rally is an official campaign event.

The Republicans have spent the last year and a half establishing a rule that we cannot consider SC justice during election seasons until the will of the people is known.

Well, Trump has declared that his entire term is an election season, and has now taken steps to make that position concrete, not just theoretical.

Trump's EC win but popular vote loss was already on shaky ground as far as establishing the "will of the people" was concerned (note that "the will of the people" has no electoral college).

Therefor, Gorsuch or any other Trump SC pick is invalid. Unless the Republicans want to flip-flop on their principles, no SC pick can be considered before the results of the 2020 election are known.
