Trump reminds me of the Presidential candidate in Bullworth who kept repeating,

"God bless America, and no place else!!"

I recently had a video pop up on a news site with Trump, repeating the part when he said, "From this day forward, it's going to be only America first, America first." I had only read his speech as I can't stomach to listen to him. What struck me was not only the wording, but also how he enunciated every syllable to give it a pointed meaning.

This made me feel sick inside. I believe in America, and I think there are many things that could have been done over the last 40 years to help the working man, of all colors, but the interests of the rich and powerful won out. But Trump is one of those rich and powerful. He isn't saying America first to mean he is actually putting the 99% as his top priority. He is only talking about the America that exists in many white people's minds. To them, they created America from nothing with no help from anyone, especially those of color. We conveniently forget that when my Italian ancestors snuck into this country via Canada at the beginning of the 20th century, Trump would have been talking about them.

This message could have been spoken the exact same way by any dictator with the same effect. I wake up more afraid every day and can't understand how this could be happening. When I talk about this, people around me only want to put their collective heads in the sand. Nothing I say gains traction.

I used to be of the opinion that Trump should serve out his time as President as the republican party needs to own him and his message. Now I am afraid that there may not be an America left, as we have known it, in 4 years.
