Meet The Immigrant That Is Fostering L.A.s Terminally Ill Children
There is a shortage of foster parents in the United States. In Los Angeles, there are thousands who care for children who need foster care. However, there is only one who does it for those children who are terminally ill.
Mohamed Bzeek is a widower who has dedicated his life to serving those foster children. Hes been doing it for the last 22 years. He has cared for more than 40 dying children, whos parents either could not care for them, or chose not to. Ten of those children died in his own home, as Bzeek put it, with family. They are his family.
Not many, is a tremendous understatement. Los Angeles has a population of 3.884 million people. They have only one man willing to give these dying children love, family, and a home. And he keeps doing it, he is doing it now. He says he will do it again, and his track record makes us believe him.
In our country today, if Bzeek tried to enter our current government would try to block him out. The country he came from is one of the 7 named in the White Houses travel ban. They would call him a potential danger to all of us. They would say that men like him are not worth the risk. That the faith he credits for holding him together over 40 deaths, that faith is one of the reasons he must be kept out.
Thank you, Mohamed Bzeek, thank you for caring for the weakest among us, for giving them a home, a hug, and care. Thank you for giving them the best short life available to them. Thank you for truly being one in a million, er
one in almost 4 million actually.
