Democrats have got to stop playing defensive to the GOP all the time!
Obamacare is a good illustration of this. Personally, I would have gone for single payer, but here is how Democrats always fail to control the message and thus public support.
When Obamacare came out, rather then embracing it, they got scared. Republicans will call them "Socialists" or "Lovers of big government." Slippy the pollster told them to tread lightly because it might hurt them in the next election. Since the Contract "on" America in 1994 was rolled out, Democrats have played defense most of the time.
We'll look at where we are now. There is palpable anger about the the Republican plan to repeal Obamacare. If the party had whole heartedly embraced and explain it better, I don't think Republicans would have dare tried to so brazenly get rid of it.
Democrats must embrace all the good things the New Deal did instead of tepidly trying to defend GOP criticisms of policies that benefit the American public.

(30,058 posts)Perez will do a fine job as chairman, we will need to do our part, Unite, work a grass roots party and get out and vote. The Green Party is not going to win national offices but they have prevented the DNC nominee from winning, we have Trump as a result. In the future we have to prevent this from happening again.
