On Tuesday, House Republicans Will Betray Their Oaths, Their Country & The American People

Daily Kos
Sunday, February 26, 2017

Next Tuesday, on February 28, the United States will witness what may be the single greatest act of collective treachery by it's elected government officials since the Confederate States voted to secede from the Union in 1860 and 1861.

And in all livelihood, the U.S. media will completely ignore it.

On Tuesday, the Republican-dominated House Judiciary Committee is expected to reject House Democrats' Resolution for a formal inquiry into the potential ethical and legal violations committed by the Trump campaign apparatus in it's contacts, communications and financial transactions with Russia during the run-up to Trump's election last November, and throughout the transition since then.
It will also reject calls to examine evidence of Trump's solicitation and receipt of foreign gifts intended to influence American policy, and the potential violations of the Emoluments Clause of the United States Constitution.

The evidence pointing to Trump's betrayal of American strategic interests has (thus far) included illegal contacts between Trump emissaries and Putin officials concerning the lifting of existing U.S. sanctions, evidence that the Trump campaign was aware of and likely complicit in Russian efforts to sway the election to Trump through Russian propaganda, and evidence suggesting that Trump himself may be compromised and subject to Russian blackmail due to either his financial dealings or his unusual sexual proclivities.
These issues, unearthed by our intelligence agencies, directly implicate the integrity of our national government.
It's difficult to imagine any matter that could be more compelling for investigation and resolution.
This is, in essence, a determination whether an elected President has been corrupted, compromised, or tainted by a hostile foreign power.

I love the phrase 'treason has no statute of limitations,' but recall Nancy Pelosi discussing a past treasonous act (lying is into a war of choice) and saying 'impeachment is off the table.' Then in 2009, Obama told us all to 'look forward.' So, no investigations, much less prosecutions for that treason. Pelosi is still Minority Leader of the House, and Obama's personal pick now heads the DNC. Will Democrats push back against this present traitor 45, or will cowardice and accommodation again rule the day?

Russia isn't out of the picture and they have a president and majority of our legislative branch who support their interests. We're about to lose the SCOTUS too. I do not doubt that efforts to increase the rethug majority in 2018 are under way as we speak. There will be no price to pay if dems never hold a majority for the foreseeable future.

The Republicans may wish to declare the investigation over Russia's influence upon our elections over and done, but Democrats will continue to stay vigilant and will continue to investigate whether our democracy has been attacked by a foreign enemy.

We regret that the Republicans have failed so miserably to protect our nation from attacks such as those from Putin and his Russian allies.

We will continue the investigation.

38. How, exactly, will the Democrats be able to "continue the investigation"?
Mon Feb 27, 2017, 05:57 PM
Feb 2017

The House will NEVER do an independent investigation..that will be made clear tomorrow when the House Judicial Committee will vote along party lines to vote against the House Democrat's Resolution for a formal inquiry.

As far as the Senate, it'll probably end up the same way, since the Repubs are in charge there as well.

So, again, my question is, how will the Dems be able to "continue the investigation" without GOP support?

Merely making the statement: "We will continue the investigation" is meaningless, since Trump's Republicans control both houses of Congress, and without any significant action taken by Congressional Republicans, there will be absolutely no further investigation of Trump's ties to Russian interference in the 2016 elections...period!

you have to prove that the higher ups and in this case Trump knew Russia was donating money and then after that you would have to get enough of the Repugnants in Congress to vote to impeach because even though its clearly a crime that is impeachable that doesnt mean they have to impeach him it just means they can if they want to.
Now personally I dont know if Trump was or was not coordinating with Russia over these hacks and the release of the information however I find it suspicious that the Repugnant leadership apparently was aware of the hacks at the very least and stonewalled Obama months ago before the elections about releasing the information.
Then, after their candidate wins they continue to stonewall any investigation into Russia so it makes me wonder if they are the ones with something to really hide like maybe they were helping Russia hack Hillary and the DNC or asking them to hack for them.
After all their party has an extensive criminal history like Watergate, arranging for hostages to be held longer to win an election, illegal arms deals and then pardoning said people involved to protect them, leaking the name of an agent for the CIA and then protecting the one that leaked the information for the administration as well as stealing data from the DNC in just the past few years so its not impossible that they would stoop to the treason of aiding or asking for aid of a foreign government hostile to the united states.

You forgot to mention the criminal acts of "Debate-Gate"
where GOP CIA agent Donald Gregg waited until Jimmy Carter was out of town, then stole his briefing papers for the upcoming 2nd debate with Reagan, copied them, and then turned the copies over to William Casey, who, in turn, gave them to George Will, who then used the stolen Carter briefing papers to "coach" Reagan before the 2nd debate with Carter.
Because of this subterfuge & treasonous activity, (which should have resulted in criminal indictments),
Reagan then went on to "win" that 2nd debate, because he knew what Carter was going to say before he even said it.

These Republican criminals rarely ever get caught!....They always seem to get away with their "dirty tricks".

just like Trump will get away with his collusion with the Russians in swaying the election in his favor, (thanks to James Comey's October 28, 2016 letter to Congress)

That is the press. Bannon knows this, which might be why the administration is so fanatic in its campaign to discredit the press.

However, if enough damning evidence is made public, and it reaches the world press as well as our MSM, even the smallest of offenses will be blown up out of proportion due to the massive effort to cover it up. As with Nixon, the cover-up itself will become the greater story. Trump, as opposed to Nixon, does not grasp the concept of shame, and so would not resign, even in the face of impeachment. On the other hand, enough Republicans these days respect the law enough for there to be a danger of impeachment for legal offenses alone.

Republicans will "discover" impeachable offenses when, and only when, Trump appears to be such a liability to them as to bring down their congressional majorities in 2018. Should THAT appear as a clear and present danger, the Republicans will drop him like a hot potato. They'd impeach and convict him for felonious jaywalking if they have to.

Once these republicans turn on their own they get vicious fast. If this isn't just the Republicans in the CA delegation running scared we might find that onTuesday they also decide to pass the buck and not squash an investigation that will come back to haunt them. Fact is the $100 in tax payer money he has already spent renting spaces a venues he owns is already getting heat from the right.

Slim hope for sure, but I'll take it if 24 hours of slim hope is all I'm gonna get.

but the Democrats need to register millions of new voters, and fight like hell against GOP voter suppression techniques like "Crosscheck," and they need to get at least 15 million more votes than the Repubs do, to even have a "chance" of taking back control of Congress.

The GOP can only steal elections that are close...Obama proved that in 2008 and 2012.
