Generally speaking, daytime cable puts up low-cost, low-information, low-ethics talking heads to keep those addicted to political chat generally satisfied with whatever the producers believe they want to hear. Yes, there are points of some exception, but look at whole shows and whole daily programmings.

Maddow earned a degree in public policy at Stanford in 1994.[20] At graduation, she was awarded the John Gardner Fellowship.[21] She was also the recipient of a Rhodes Scholarship and began her postgraduate study in 1995 at Lincoln College, Oxford. This made her the first openly gay or lesbian American to win an international Rhodes Scholarship.[22] In 2001, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in politics at the University of Oxford.

Trump Taj Mahal casino settles U.S. money laundering claims
Wed Feb 11, 2015
By Jonathan Stempel

Feb 11 The parent of Trump Taj Mahal, one of Atlantic City, New Jersey's struggling casinos, has settled U.S. government charges that it violated federal laws designed to thwart money laundering, court filings show.

Trump Taj Mahal Associates LLC agreed to the assessment of a $10 million civil penalty by the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, according to a proposed consent order filed on Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware.

The penalty will take the form of a general unsecured claim in Trump Taj Mahal's bankruptcy.

In exchange, Trump Taj Mahal admitted to have willfully violated reporting and record-keeping requirements under the federal Bank Secrecy Act from 2010 to 2012.
http://www.reuters.com/article/trump-ent-trumptajmahal-moneylaundering-idUSL1N0VL2L120150211

Of course, there is only so many facts that can be fit into an hour long show. If Trump's shady business dealings were all documented and explained it would probably take a year or more of twenty four hour a day programming to cover it.

I would have applied years ago. I truly admire her from an academic perspective, as a political science advanced degree holder myself. She's really well informed and able to piece together complex issues all while retaining the perspective of the legal connections to events. She does it well and I also like that she is willing to explain why a "thing" matters/is important in our lives to educate her audience, many of whom lack knowledge of civics, or don't get the multiple layers of policy. I think she gets stifled by the network at times, I'm sure she has to pick her battles carefully.

I am glad that she is on top of this story, it matter to the whole world and she knows it... could turn out to be her finest current events reporting.

Mon Feb 27, 2017, 10:11 PM
Feb 2017

in FLA from some crooked creep for 40 mil, sells it to a russian oligarch for a hundred million after two years. neither ever lived there, and it's being torn down.

the guy was involved in a 4.5 billion dollar divorce settlement, and was hoovering up properties like this (and the Ari Onassis island for 150 mil), and the most expensive apartment in NYC (88 mil, for his 22 year old daughter), all to keep it out of the hands of his wife....it just goes on

the oligarch was tied to deutsche bank, who was fined by the US==630 mil over a 10 BILLION russian money laundering scheme, leading to the exit of the head of DB, who ended up at the bank in Cyprus, whose first or second biggest stockholder/investor is none other than....Wilbur Ross!

not making this up.....all off the top of my head from listening to the show

absolutely mind boggling stuff

this circles back to why Manafort is a major player, and why his little blackmail contretemps last summer led to his leaving the campaign

that complicated web posted above needs to be explained in words, and god knows how many text pages it would take. where's that diagram come from?

don't think I've ever seen anything like this before!

Mon Feb 27, 2017, 10:46 PM

my favorite section:

The Bank of Cyprus is just one of more than 100 direct and indirect investments that Ross listed on his U.S. Office of Government Ethics financial disclosure form last month. [2] He recently promised to resign as Vice Chairman of the Bank and disinvest from it within the next 90 days if his nomination is approved.[3]

Mere divestiture will not suffice here, even if it was immediate. Exiting a brothel in a hurry doesn’t explain what you were doing there in the first place.

https://www.dcreport.org/wilbur-ross-comes-to-d-c-with-a-long-and-profitable-history-of-russian-connections/?preview_id=944

they didn't really expect him to win....they were setting up a long game to destabilize the projected HRC presidency....as they've been doing all over the world>>>just like they're doing in France, and did in the Netherlands (causing a hand count of ballots in some sort of upcoming referendum, IIRC), and apparently turning the vote in Sweden against doing some sort of NATO deal.

this was all in the story tonight, and those who've compared this to a complicated spy novel couldn't be more spot on.

makes Le Carre look like a simple, Venus Paradise tale spinner

If you don't know Alan Furst, check out his stuff for some dense, richly detailed accounts of Russo/European political intrigue, spanning the time period of WWI through WWII, concentrating largely on the interregnum:

start here.....
http://www.alanfurst.net/Book/night-soldiers

from his site:

“America’s preeminent spy novelist”

—The New York Times

Alan Furst is widely recognized as the master of the historical spy novel. He is the bestselling author of Night Soldiers, Dark Star, The Polish Officer, The World at Night, Red Gold, Kingdom of Shadows, Blood of Victory, Dark Voyage, The Foreign Correspondent, Mission to Paris, Midnight in Europe, and A Hero of France.

gets away with it. Only half of the US is as stupid as DT and the Repubs.
Stupid, uninformed, proud to be ignorant. In many cases, they know he's lying, and they want him to get away w it because they have the same agenda.

Because reporters who expose Putin's corruptions tend to end up dead. And it's probably even easier for Putin to hire and ARM hitmen in America than it is in Russia.

118. After watching Putin have his critics murdered in every city from Moscow to LONDON...
Wed Mar 1, 2017, 04:52 AM

why should New York be any different? This isn't paranoia at all.

Ironically, up until now the west has seemed to have a 'gentleman's agreement' with Putin when it comes to assassinating his political critics. For some twisted reason, the agreement seems to be: "we won't make a fuss about you killing your critics on our soil, as long as they're RUSSIAN critics." So far, he hasn't ventured out of that agreement, but there's a first time for everything. (I mean, heck...the old agreement with Putin used to be: "we won't make a fuss if you only f@#k with the elections in countries that used to be part of the Soviet Union." But he seems to have stepped over that line pretty dramatically.)

they must've had access to the info Rachel put out there tonight.....

what's the deal?

are they tied in somehow, as well, and can't dig into this miasma because enough of their own hands are too dirty to withstand scrutiny?

wouldn't surprise me. hope that's not the case.

just imagine the firestorm that would've been created if one tiny fraction of this concatenation of circumstantial evidence had been thrown at Hillary

He's blaming everything from his fucked up yemen strongman show to the leaks, on obama, when trump wasnt even around to plan or watch Yemen

The leaks are Obamas fault focuses the story of course, not on the illegal acts underlying the leaks, but on the Rebubs irrational HATE of Obama. Then, they think it is all just Obama fake news and refuse to listen. Therefore, these people aren't listening to RM, other that a few smart ones who want to get the info and circumvent it to take RM down or her stories.

It would seem there are just too many leaks in the Chitolini Dam. He is going down, the only question is how soon. Of course that would lead to right wing religious wingnut Pence.

Millennials need to show up at the polls in 2018 as well as 2020.

It is dizzying to try to put it all together and there are so many people seriously trying to make a coherent story. Thank goodness for serious journalists and our intel and security people digging and hunting for the connections in this saga. The books that will be written after this is over will probably be staggering.

When (not if) tRump goes down, many others will go with him. I just hope it happens soon before tRump and the despicable Republicans and/or spineless Democrats do more damage. Democrats who do not go after this attack on our government are part of the problem. There is no excuse for them not going after this full throttle. Enough of the evidence has been shown, leaked and revealed to know we were invaded and manipulated by the Russians and tRump was a big part of their strategy.

A colleague of mine from southern Germany once told me he had a Russian call him up wanting to make some six figure purchase. The Russian gave as a reference a bank on Cyprus. He called the bank asking if they knew the Russian, and they laughed. Yes, they knew him, and his credit was impeccable. You see, he OWNED the bank.
