1. I would add:

Trump supporters only access those media outlets that they know will confirm their world view.

2. Not limited to Trump voters.

This behavior crosses all ideologies. I see it here: people dismiss sources that say things they don't want to hear or are overly critical of "our side", even if the criticism is legitimate.

3. They watch Faux News

And listen to talk radio all day. That's why they thought Trump was telling it like it is. They think the real news is fake and the fake news is real. They suffer from cognitive dissonance.

12. The article is really interesting - it's about why they do and why they like to believe it

4. The german author Berthold Brecht summed it up best in "Galileo Galilei":

When the cardinals are discussing this new fashion of using numbers in astronomy:
"They (the astronomers) are screaming 'The numbers force us', but where do these numbers come from? From lack of belief!"

Similar about the Trump-supporters: They refuse to believe that such a thing as objective truth even exists. And that's how they explain away knowledge/education as an invention that has the purpose of belittling others.

And let's not forget Jeb Bush's solution to climate-change: Some tinkerer in his garage will eventually figure out a solution. (Translation: Those so-called scientists know nothing.)

5. Excellent point!

I have noticed this about FOX News also.

They are always looking for the exception to prove their point. As if that is the norm and the reality.

6. Confirmation Bias; it's opposite of Scientific Method.

Scientists search and research for negative evidence to knock down their theories. Any theories still standing are highly regarded. A great deal of scientific creativity goes into making tougher and stricter tests for theories.

The more tests a theory can survive, the higher the regard.
The tougher the tests, the higher the regard.

RWAF are particularly prone to searching for a bit of confirming "evidence", without much regard to the source, and then to stop searching there where they find some.

7. And unfortunately

the internet makes it easy to find things that will validate pretty much any viewpoint as true and normal, no matter how nutty it actually is.

10. And they are consumed by fear

and skim media to find stories to justify it.
