Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) on Tuesday tried to force the Republican Party to uphold President Donald Trumps promise of insurance for everybody.
During a House Ways and Means Committee hearing on the Republican plan to replace President Barack Obamas health care reform law, Blumenauer became the first lawmaker to offer an amendment to the GOP bill.
Blumenauers amendment would prevent any of the provisions in the American Health Care Act to take effect until the Congressional Budget Office could verify that the law would provide coverage for all tax payers.

Democrats said that Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) immediately ruled that the amendment was not in order.

(82,849 posts)My representative has not exactly been a firebrand during his congressional career, but it looks like the current Republican regime may have - at last - lit a fire under Blumenauer's ass.

(37,648 posts)I wonder what the rural Republicans, many of whom get subsidies, are going to think about this new GOP so-called plan.
A tax credit is only good if you can pay the premium in the first place. The millionaires in Congress (and billionaires) cannot even conceive of the idea of not being able to afford to pay a premium. SAD!
