HOT TOPIC Massive Movement Launched to Strip Congress of Their Healthcare, Over 400,000 Join

An Oregon man, Daniel Jimenez, has set up a petition at change.org to strip members of the US Congress of their health care coverage, with people like Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and President Trump working hard to strip millions of Americans of theirs. Jimenez lost his father to cancer a few years ago after he waited to long to go to the doctor because he lacked health insurance.

The Petition in part states: A lot of Members of Congress promote choice as an American value, which is all the more reason for them to have to continue to choose their own health coverage from the free marketplace. If private health care is good for the American citizen, it should also be good for the people that defend it.

If Congress is willing to drastically cut healthcare subsidies for most people, are they willing to have the same rules apply to them and their families?

Under the GOP's Trumpcare plan, the ACA would end and they'd likely be required to go back under their old sysem which covers all federal employees (with contributions from the employees and the employer). That would be specified in the legislation at some point.

Members of Congress and their staffs are not covered under FEHB anymore. They have to purchase their own insurance and the only way they can get the employer contribution that other citizens get when they have employer-sponsored coverage is to purchase it on one of the exchanges.

Under the ACA, the house and Senate had to choose their coverage from the ACA pool. If they repeal ACA, they will get back their gold plated plan they had before. No wonder they are so he'll - bent on the repeal.

legislation, especially when Republicans control both houses of Congress. The chances for such a measure to actually become law are absolutely nil. We need to focus our attention and efforts on achievable goals, I think. Such petitions are a waste of time and energy, in my opinion.
