For those fretting that Fox News et al aren't letting the truth get out about the Comey hearing...

Remember two important things:

1. The average voter DOESN'T WATCH FOX NEWS. Or CNN or MSNBC. They have a limited attention span for news, and limit themselves to the local TV station newscast.

2. The people who DO watch Fox News aren't the people we're trying to reach; they're people who believe the Republican stories and watch Fox to have their beliefs reinforced. Fox isn't changing anyone's minds.

Bottom line, we're reaching out to the handful of voters who supported Obama and then switched to Trump out of economic anxiety. They're not trying to convince themselves that he's doing everything he said he would; they're just waiting to see what happens. The fact that Trump's favorables are plunging tells me they don't like the results so far.

1. The people of Fox are what caused that "economic anxiety" that a lot of people felt

2. I agree that most people don't watch Fox.

I will be interested to see what the coverage is on NBC nightly news this evening. That's what your typical person watches, network news is absolutely right.

3. People whose top concern was the economy voted for HRC

People whose top concern was immigration or terrorism voted for Trump.

I'm sure you've seen the exit polls, so maybe it is time to retire the "economic anxiety" meme.

Other than that, you're right that most voters don't watch fox. Should play out pretty much how you've described

4. We should be targeting 3rd party voters, All Non Voters, and Voters who have stopped voting

Convincing historical non-voters to vote for Democrats has the biggest upside because there are so many of them.
Along with voters who stopped voting.

5. Fox NC matters a LOT

Remember the CJR story about how lies are created and spread via Breitbart and Fox.

Not THAT many people watch and read Fox but Fox sets a lot of the tenor of discussion especially in red districts. There's a reason why Murdoch and Mercer and Koch pour money into media (NY Post, Breitbart, Reason all lose tons of money).

Because conservative media disinformation works.

We need to stop Fox, not pretend everything is ok

8. It's the millions of Facebook and twitter feeds referencing and clipping FAKE NEWS...

which makes all this "confirmation bias" so lethal now!

10. We might never change Fox viewers' votes but I wish we could educate them just enough to STFU.

11. I say that all the time. We are trying to reach the non-political. They ONLY watch network news.

And they only watch it on occasion.

I have posted this on DU several times.

ONLY POLITICOS WATCH FOXNEWS OR CNN OR MSNBC. MOST people watch NETWORK news.

Ratings for one single network news broadcast (from ABC, NBC or CBS) will have FOUR to FIVE times the viewership than any of the cable news (CNN, MSNBC or FOX).

NBC gets 8-10 million viewers watching Lester Holt. ABC with David Muir has been getting 10M viewers EVERY SINGLE night this year.

On MSNBC, with Rachel's BEST night ever, she got 2.5 million - and usually gets 1 million.

If we're going to get the truth out, we've got to lean on the networks to ask tougher questions and to do some investigative reporting.
