Gov. Christie calls reporter 'idiot' for asking off-topic question at news conference

OCEANPORT — Gov. Chris Christie called a reporter an "idiot" this afternoon during a press conference to discuss the water emergency in Monmouth County.

Although reporters were told that Christie would only be answering questions about Friday's collapse of three large water pipes at NJ American Water’s treatment plant at Swimming River Reservoir and the subsequent boil water alert in 22 towns, one journalist tried to ask about the special joint session of the Legislature that the governor has called for Monday.

When the reporter said, "Governor, on Monday are you going to be addressing the legislature," Christie interrupted and replied, "Did I say on topic? Are you stupid? On topic, on topic. Next question."

The same reporter then said "Yes" and "No, I'm not stupid" to Christie's questions and then began to ask, "How many days will you have them come back" before he was again cut off by the governor.

Christie said, "Thank you all very much and I'm sorry for the idiot over there. Take care." before walking away.

Someone must buy that "tough guy" act.

He has been slipping though in recent months. Maybe some NJ voters are waking up.

But this time Christie was correct.

The topic was announced, and ONLY the topic would be discussed, that was made clear.

Reporter Big Mouth went off on a tangent about something that has nothing to do with what was being discussed.

This reporter reminds me of that idiot at the White House announcement, the guy from Tucker Carlson's blog.

Like Obama was with that reporter.

I'm afraid this is a case where both were wrong.

The reporter for going off-topic at the wrong time, and Christie for popping off at the reporter.

Believe me, I'm no fan of Christie.
But the reporter was equally as stupid.

He does not respect himself and therefore does not respect others, a real class act.
