Like all other wingers, Pence's dining abstinence rule is all about his own dick...

He's clearly concerned about contracting Winger Wandering PeePee Syndrome, especially while helping to destroy America in that Loose Jezebel infested Sodom and Gomorrah known as Washington D.C.

Pence's outrageously sexist discrimination against the opposite gender is problematic on two separate conditions:

One: As an elected public official, he's most likely breaking Federal statutes against gender discrimination.

But Two: As an ostensibly straight male, his guideline is singularly based on his own attraction to women.

Think about this for a moment. What kind of mindset are we dealing with here? For one, he would have a lot in common with men who force women to wear burkas, men who blame women for being raped because of what they're wearing and pretty much most of the male characters in "A Handmaid's Tale."

If Pence were hypothetically gay (go ahead and laugh) and said that he wouldn't dine alone with other men, that behavior would still based on his own ideas about who he's sexually attracted to. Either way, none of it would be in consideration of the other person.

Let's also consider that, either way, he's not even regarding the likelihood that those singular men or women diners wouldn't be sexually attracted to his regression enhanced replicant ass. It's all about him.

Pence just basically outed his own sick mindset with this bullshit. As if we didn't know that about him before.

He's one scary motherfucker... Gawd help us is he replaces Cheetolini.

FDT&MP.

1. On a positive note, this is good news for every woman but his wife who is apparently

forced to dine alone with him. Old Pence needs to locate a time machine because he's definitely not from this century.

without his wife present, apparently. I think the dining alone with women thing and the alcohol thing are separate issues. What they have in common is that his wife gets to babysit him in both instances. He's made it her responsibility to make sure he doesn't lose control, with women and with alcohol. I wonder what other temptations she has to protect him from.

10. The question that bugs me

Why even say anything about this in public? I've been aware of Billy Graham's personal rule for years about not being alone with any woman not his wife. Say what you will about it, Graham never had a Jimmy Swaggart or Jim Bakker problem. It precludes any gossip and considerably reduces the chances of a false accusation or blackmail. But that's the life for a charismatic and handsome preacher.

But for a politician to adopt the rule and talk about it in public? What's the point? It invites scrutiny, begs for ridicule, and gives the appearance of smug sanctimony. If Pence is ever caught in a compromising position, it will increase his embarrassment exponentially. Just conduct yourself in accordance with your own personal rule, and the chances are really good that nobody would even notice.

20. That is the question.

Why? Who cares? Everything seems to boil down to sex with these people.

What's the point of broadcasting any of this? It's not anyone's business.

If late one night, in the White House, Ivanka says, "Hey, Mike, let's go down to the kitchen and make a ham sandwich", all he has to say is "no, thanks".

He need not say any more. His current explanation is pretty repulsive.

(besides, can Ivanka even make a ham sandwich?)

12. This is the least of Pence's issues

I'm playing armchair psychologist, but he strikes me as Rick Santorum 2.0. He tries so much to show how macho and straight he is but he's really got something to hide. He's homophobic to prove he's not gay.

The other person he sort of reminds me of is sexual predator Josh Duggar, who had a very strict upbringing and even stricter rules regarding the 'courtship of his wife' (the TV show was a guilty pleasure, forgive me). While dating, they were only allowed to 'side hug' and never were allowed in the same room alone. When he put a ring on it, they were allowed to hold hands. Their first kiss was at the altar. Years later, it's clear he doesn't love her (finds some on the side via Ashley Madison) but she's spineless and stands by her man. Knocks her up to prove a point.

In the Machiavellian world of Washington DC where his every move is watched by people who want to buy him, blackmail him, defeat him and destroy him, he doesn't want to have to explain cover photos on the National Enquirer of himself dining out with women who aren't his wife.

I'm sure there's many politicians in DC who adhere to this same policy (and many more who wish they had).

You're "sure" Pence doesn't have a problem dining with professional women? Did he tell you that? Because usually, religious nuts don't do exceptions; sin is sin, and apparently for Pence it's a sin (or an "occasion of sin" whatever the hell that means) to dine with a woman or women without his wife present. So unless Karen Pence goes to every business lunch he attends, he can't have women there.

He's a hide-bound, hypocritical, rigid so-called "Christian."

When I was homeless and was living at the Salvation Army they had a policy that there had to be a witness whenever an employee would transport a person in need to prevent a lawsuit and as a witness to that effect. It made sense to me and still does. I was on several rides with the driver to provide that as a way to keep my eligibility for receiving assistance, it was the least I could do or live out in the cold.

He explained it that he doesn't want others to see him out taking a female to lunch that may be visiting our location and assume he is cheating on his wife because he doesn't want his wife embarrassed like that. He said it hit him when he was in the middle of just such a meal that it looked bad if anyone he knew saw him laughing and talking with a nice looking lady alone. From then on, he said to find another person to entertain the bigwigs if it happened to be a woman alone. I don't have a problem with that because his priority is respecting his wife. If this is all people have to gripe about Pence for, I'm disappointed.

57. The law has a problem with that, in the workplace. If he wants to follow that rule

on his personal time, that's his business. But he cannot treat women, or a subgroup of them, differently from other people at work on the basis of their being female.

Put yourself in her position, particularly if most men in positions with whom you need to interact to exchange business info, build relationships, etc., were to follow the same rule. You are disadvantaged at work and clearly viewed exclusively through the lens of your gender in this scenario. And from an etiquette standpoint, what signal is he sending to women with whom he WILL have lunch, etc.? That they are unattractive, too old, etc.? Not good behavior.

The solution is to expect oneself to maintain standards of professional, respectful behavior at all times in any work-related setting, with members of all groups. and to ensure these standards are met.

Not work, lunch as the babysitter for visiting higher ups in the company. Tradition dictates someone takes them to a local place for lunch. It is no longer him after he decided it looks bad. Nothing illegal about it. I applaud him for considering how his wife might feel if her friends saw him and assumed the worst.

Workplace is covered, whether it is sitting in a meeting at the conference room or babysitting higher ups, clients, etc at an exclusive restaurant. In some cases employers are even responsible for how customers treat their employees.

The rights of female workers trump a male worker's discomfort. It's the same principle as if I had difficulty with eating at the same table with someone of a different race so my employer had to reassign someone else to host. Not allowable.

60. No I am not incorrect...

It is not a "working lunch" so is unrelated to the job. It is only tradition, not required. They can get a plate in the company cafeteria like everyone else. Taking a woman out alone is not in his job requirements. Entertainment during non-working hours which includes lunch is not required at all.

This is one of those positions in which the pc police makes us look bad. If you really wanted to push it, I'm sure a man could say he was being sexually discriminated against by being forced to take a female out.

I maintain that this attitude is simply a reflection of his belief that sexual temptation is ALWAYS the woman's fault. This is not just an attitude in fundamentalists. It is seemingly baked into our culture. And some people do not respect boundaries. Those people suck, in my opinion. And should be avoided, called out, etc.

I think grown-ass people in modern, egalitarian relationships should be able to trust each other. If you can't (and if there's no reason not to trust them), you might be too insecure. So maybe a therapist is in order? Or, if they truly cannot be trusted, then a new partner is in order.
