that OPENING DAY is the greatest American Holiday.. followed very closely by PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT.

Of course my Japanese, Taiwanese and Korean friends get it...most of them, anyway..

Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke /ˈbɛtoʊ/ (born September 26, 1972) is an American politician and the U.S. Representative for Texas's 16th congressional district in his native El Paso, Texas.

For others like me who weren't sure of the proper way to to pronounce his name... maybe this will help

ˈb ... as in boy
ɛ ... as in bed
t ... as in tie
oʊ ... as in code

I think his name is cool. Half Hispanic, half Irish.
He's always been a Democrat.

... a fight in EVERY district and state. I give a very small donation to any Dem who shows up here on DU, to increase the PR value of the donor count. There's a link in the OP.

It's been SO incredibly irritating to see these races come and go and too many CONS run un-opposed. In the past, our team has conceded defeat before even stepping up to the starting block - IF there even was some "sacrificial lamb" who was there for the sake of being there but didn't bother to put up a fight.

Looks like - NOT ANYMORE!!!

Though I got stuck for a second on "hometown Sen. Ted Cruz" for a moment. The caption said "Houston," but isn't Cruz's hometown Calgary Alberta Canada?
