I've donated small amounts to Jon Osoff 4 separate times, and of course every day I get three or four more requests to donate. I just wanted to know if anyone knows whether he has a real chance to win? I've asked this before here, but gotten no response.
Thanks.

(5,754 posts)and I think he has a real chance. He's young and energetic but looks older than he is. He is very well spoken. I'm in his district, so I get his and his opponents direct mail. The only argument against him is that the comes from a wealthy family. Really? Republicans are using that argument against someone? The commercials against him show him acting silly in college, but no drinking or anything illegal. I've been to events and has seen him in person, and he comes across as a smart, geeky guy who understands the issues and can speak in complete sentences about all the important local and national issues. I'm going to another event soon and will want to hear what he thinks about infrastructure. The I85 collapse is nearby and effects folks in his district.

(7,640 posts)Why Democrats and Jon Ossoff Have a Shot at a Georgia Upset
Nate Cohn @Nate_Cohn MARCH 29, 2017
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/29/upshot/why-democrats-have-a-shot-in-a-georgia-district-dominated-by-republicans.html
snip...Jon Ossoff, a 30-year-old Democrat and first-time candidate, has fared well in recent polls and has raised an astonishing $3 million in only a few months. Mr. Trump struggled to victory in this district, a well-educated suburban area north of Atlanta. He won by just 1.5 percentage points, down from Mitt Romneys 23-point win in 2012.
It would be a mistake to read too much into the result of this one election. Special elections tend to stand on their own, and there are reasons to think that Democrats have a better chance than the districts voting in congressional races suggests.

But at this point, it wouldnt be shocking if Mr. Ossoff got the 50 percent necessary to avoid a runoff in June...snip

(24,324 posts)I am happy to make small donations when I can and where it seems well-placed. Always.
But. the constant 'baggering,' not just from Osoff, of course.. but.... Act Blue. DNCC, etc....
I wish the default on these website was to NOT subscribe. but. alas...

(6,931 posts)because I'm an active and frequent donator. I just ignore the emails when I can't donate. They don't bother me as much as the DNCC ones that always have dire topic headers like "DISASTER!!"

(17,984 posts)I donated a little money, too. I'm crossing my fingers that we get some good news this month and don't have to wait for a runoff.

(8,138 posts)It's been a pretty red district but it is changing, so no one really knows.
Price won that district with 61% last year but it wasn't a realistic opponent, and he had won by 66% in 2014.
Trump only won the district by 1.5% and several of the Repubs are trying to be the Trumpiest candidate.
Karen Handel (yes the Susan Koman Handel) is leading the Repubs at this time.

(89,248 posts)The best chance is try to get majority first time around so no runoff is needed.
