(The author somehow doesn't know where the term "balkanization" comes from: There was a bloody civil-war in the Balkans in the 1990s. The country Yugoslavia was split up into several smaller countries by NATO to prevent those people from killing each other. It's really weird that nobody on RT has ever heard of that war, despite all their NATO-bashing.)

"Balkanization" actually comes from the early 20th century; the breakup of the former Ottoman territory of the Balkan peninsula into several small and generally politically unstable states over the century or so since the Greek war of independence (Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, Bulgaria, etc).
