The unreal amnesia of Republicans

"Barack Obama has spent like a drunken sailor", they say.

Indeed, the President has spent some money in attempts to keep the economy from sliding into another depression but it's more like he's been sipping on a Miller Lite than drinking like a drunk sailor.

To listen to some of these folks, GWB left this country in good shape and Obama spent us into oblivion. They ignore or forget that the first budget Obama received had a $1.2 trillion dollar deficit, including the TARP bailout of the banks. They forget that Bush said it was necessary to keep the entire world economy from collapsing. Was that just a minor glitch to these folks? Why do they ignore it?

Was the President supposed to take a trillion dollar deficit and bring it to a balance in his first year or in his first term? It should be pointed out that $1 trillion dollars of the present deficit spending belongs to George W Bush and the Republicans. It is unreal. But the criticism of the Republicans toward Barack Obama is totally unfounded. They are out of touch with reality.

It was about the time that Cheney said that Reagan proved deficits don't matter.

I think you are off considerably?

I would agree that the deficit has gone up about $1.3 trillion per year that Obama has been in office, but he did not start with a balance budget, as did Bush Jr. You have to take that into consideration to be taken seriously.

The shithead bush son from Texas blew through the surplus in his first year in office, handing it out to his pals.

It went downhill from there.

Without even addressing the substance of what any of them say (which is ALWAYS automatically suspect with me), When I hear this junk on hate radio- for the 1/1000th of a second that I manage to listen to it- I find myself screaming at the radio and wanting to put my fist through it (but then I realize that I'm being ridiculous- after all, it's not the radio's fault. It's just the messenger). My body would probably spontaneously combust if I was ever forced to sit a listen to Fox News for a half-hour (maybe less). Nothing to see or hear from Fox News and the right-wing's hate media apparatus but lies, lies, and MORE lies- all while pretending that they are "fair and balanced" and that the rest of the "mainstream media" (despite the volume of proof otherwise) is somehow tilted in favor of "the left".

We are dealing with those for whom winning isn't just important but rather the only thing.

They will use any means to justifythe end they desire. And you would do well to remember that when dealing with them.

They have no moral center and would kill to get what they want.

My righty FB friends aren't aware that TARP was signed before Obama was even elected...remind them.

I've been thinking about starting a "just some facts" posts...maybe three facts at a time. Sure wish this were avaliable from the party. Appears as though they, like Obama, give the American public waaaay to much credit ie: they think that people are aware of simple facts. They're not.
