The Rule of Law.

We are a country of laws, and if we're a just country, the law applies to all of us equally. Which means that at some point, political excuses or reasons, no longer can fend off justice.

I am glad to see that we are reaching the tipping point and Trump's men are coming under scrutiny. No where to hide. I just worry that their supporters have counted on the Machiavelli approach of skirting the laws for so long, that they will not understand. That is what is so crazy about what is happening. There are people out there with college degrees who think that political ends are above the law. I hope we are prepared when they begin their melt-down.

The love of money is the root of all evil. I really believe that. I don't know how we eradicate greed from the human condition, except through education. Early education that teaches generosity. And maybe not even then.

3. I'd wager Bush would agree about a country of laws, and the law applying equally.

Point being, he's a war criminal who still touts the rule of law. A never been held accountable war criminal at that. He can still tout it - publicly, he's free to do so. He'd disagree about political ends as a mitigating factor, though. But then he would, yes?

So, as to what will happen to Trump and his minions under the same rule of law that allowed a war criminal and his minions to remain free?

I am curious about that myself.

I'd like to think we have learned a lesson.

I also wish magic was real. I adore Harry Potter.

Now, that, was justice. Even the mercy to the Malfoys was justice.

Justice, tempered with mercy - but justice first.

It's not enough to simply be glad bad is gone or simply out of office.

There must be a reckoning.

Otherwise, that same kind of bad still permeates the thinking because it knows what it can get away with.

Murder laws will never stop murder - but they still go to prison.

Authority figures should as well.

There will never be Harry Potter magic but the universe is magical enough in its own right. I'll settle for that - and justice.


Please, don't misunderstand me. This was not an attack on what you said. It's just what you said got me to thinking about America and its rule of law - and how it has been applied and not applied.

I am a Harry Potter fan myself.

I was thinking about the right-wing swell of hate and rebellion that will probably come out of our successes to apply the rule of law. They won't get it and I fear a shit-storm will follow because their party has been able to skirt the rule of law since Iran Contra.

They would be outraged at justice.

They have been for years.

But that can't stop the seeking. It shouldn't anyway.
