(45,806 posts)military does, so if we're trying to find money in the budget, why don't we go back to the days when the military personnel did everything? I worked with a guy who had KP duty for the time he was in Nam.
I have nothing against the contractors. My son is working as a contract manager in Afghanistan now. He makes a whole lot more money than he could ever have hoped for when he was in the Navy. No I don't want him to loose his job, but I'm also an American, and if we really are hunting for things to cut out of the budget, eliminating or at least severely reducing use of them would be a GREAT BIG WINDFALL OF MONEY! AFAIK, almost all the contractors are ex-military so the Companies who hire the contractors don't have the expense of training because our military has already trained them!
I also recognize that it would be an impossible deal to get into law because those Companies make BIG BUCKS off this program and aren't about to see any politician make it go away.

(2,678 posts)about the $$$! In the "old days," before repukes took over Congress, when a calamity hit part of the country, the money was always found. Now there must be cuts to other things. Worthless is what they, and specifically this piece of a dried up turd, are!
