OP
CNN covered it. Likely just for show and perhaps to get China to do more about NK.

It is highly unlikely we would move against North Korea without at least a second carrier strike group.
I would expect to see at least one more carrier strike group, movement of B-2 & B-1 bombers to Guam & F-22 squadrons deployed to Guam and at least 1 more Army division (mechanized or armored) flown to South Korea if U.S. were to attack North Korea.

It is not uncommon for aircraft carriers to operate in that area, and the US regularly deploys military assets, such as aircraft, to the region as a show of force. In fact the Vinson was in South Korea last month for military exercises.

(10,252 posts)9. Guardian has an article
The US navy will move a strike group towards the western Pacific Ocean to provide a presence near the Korean peninsula, a US official said on Saturday. Trump tells Japan 'all options on the table' in face of North Korea provocation
The Carl Vinson strike group, which includes an aircraft carrier, will make its way from Singapore, according to the official, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity.
The news followed a Friday report by NBC that the National Security Council had included the return of nuclear weapons to South Korea in options presented to Donald Trump for dealing with the threat posed by North Korea. Killing North Koreas leader, Kim Jong-un, was also presented as an option, NBC reported.
