while some dem pundits and officials are joining RWNJs, trying to make Trump look better by mentioning Obama's 'failure' in 2013 to stop Assad, a little actual history and logic and reasoning should be brought up by media outlets and their pundits. There were good reasons not to enter into another war at that time. Obama explained them clearly at the time and as recently as last year. The record is there.

But most outlets just want to talk about the 'differences', the drama, the horserace between Obama and Trump. They want to catch someone in a false statement, get provocative responses, show hypocrisy, show tragedy, show gamesmanship MUCH MORE than trying to elucidate, to clarify, to show history, to evaluate deeper complex issues.
This is a serious issue and it deserves serious research, focus, and discussion. Not three dems battling three goprs on a panel trying to parse Trump's tweets.
And...I'm not saying that there aren't reasons to act in 2017 or to have acted in 2013. But the underlying complexities of the issue are being ignored in favor of Enquirer-type headlines.
Compare Obama's discussions and thoughts with the Trump announcement.

(23,372 posts)That is something that progressive people should be glad about. Personally, I doubt that Obama would have attacked in 2017 either. That is a good thing.
