For months, during election, tweeters proudly called themselves "KGB Deplorable ______" -

Okay, maybe it was "Deplorable KGB _______" - I'm old and weary, dammit

Anyway, I just noticed tonight that I never see a "KGB" reference anymore. Still some proud "Deplorables" here and there, but no "KGB"s.

Just sayin...(and wondering, hmmm - why no KGB anymore?)

1. Someone told them the KGB died when the USSR did?

It's the FSB now--they do basically the same thing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Security_Service

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB; Russian: Федеральная служба безопасности Российской Федерации (ФСБ ), tr. Federal'naya sluzhba bezopasnosti Rossiyskoy Federatsii; IPA: [fʲɪdʲɪˈralʲnəjə ˈsluʐbə bʲɪzɐˈpasnəstʲɪ rɐˈsʲijskəj fʲɪdʲɪˈratsɨjɪ]) is the principal security agency of Russia and the main successor agency to the USSR's Committee of State Security (KGB). Its main responsibilities are within the country and include counter-intelligence, internal and border security, counter-terrorism, and surveillance as well as investigating some other types of grave crimes and federal law violations. It is headquartered in Lubyanka Square, Moscow's centre, in the main building of the former KGB. The Director of the FSB since 2008 is army general Aleksandr Bortnikov.

The immediate predecessor of the FSB was the Federal Counterintelligence Service (FSK) of Russia, itself a successor to the KGB: on 12 April 1995, Russian president Boris Yeltsin signed a law mandating a reorganization of the FSK, which resulted in the creation of the FSB. In 2003, the FSB's responsibilities were widened by incorporating the previously independent Border Guard Service and a major part of the abolished Federal Agency of Government Communication and Information (FAPSI). The two major structural components of the former KGB that remain administratively independent of the FSB are the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and the State Guards (FSO).

Under Russian federal law, the FSB is a military service just like the armed forces, the MVD, the FSO, the SVR, the FSKN and EMERCOM's civil defence, but its commissioned officers do not usually wear military uniforms.

just jarring to see people deliberately and on purpose pretending to be a member of the KGB...like it was cool, man -

Now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever seen a "Deplorable FSB _____" - ?

At any rate, I just wonder if identifying oneself as a badass tough-guy Russian at this point is...a little too close to home these days? - shit's gettin real for the white-righties, so they dropped the reference - ?

Anyway, I appreciate your reply!!

4. The goal of these assholes is to repulse decent people.

They think it's cool to associate their philosophies with mass murderers, brutal despots, and heartless, cruel assholes. They want to SHOCK and sicken us. Then they want to laugh, in that South Park-ish, ironic way, at how "upset" we are that they won't observe simple rules of common decency. Ha ha--we're "weak," and they're the hard, clear-eyed inheritors of the future. That's how they see themselves, anyway. I see them as fucking mouth breathers devoid of humanity, never mind common sense. They think they're anonymous? They're not.

They can't mock the FSB though, especially the idiots shopping this crap from a Putin Troll Farm (and that's a clue right there....if they refuse to find any fault with Putin, you know where they're from). Those fuckers will come after them as quick as the KGB did (because many of the senior FSB leadership came up in the KGB....Putin's a very good example of that). They'll lose their good job being paid decent rubles for being an asshole online.

Through the long lens of history, they might come to realize that they're fucking idiots. Then again....maybe not!

I did notice that a lot of 'em , when hearing about Page & the fisa warrant , immediately started crowing that Trump was right about being spied on & that Obama's going to prison & "why hasn't he been arrested yet ?" -which tells me that alot of 'em stll have faith in Trump.

I have also seen quite a few who don't believe Assad was behind chemical weapons attack .They're ususlly the same ones who wanna know "what's wrong with wanting to get along with Russia?".
Interesting group.
Ps.I'm weary too -though I refuse to discuss my age.
