where it came ashore. It was a big deal because cyclones don't often hit New Zealand, they either fizzle or hit Australia.

I'm glad it moved that quickly. Hanging around the eastern part of the South Island could have been catastrophic on top of the Kaikoura quake damage, especially to the roads.
