Ivanka Trump's website asks queer chef for an interview and her response is glorious.
Filed by may wilkerson | Apr 13, 2017 @ 1:00pm

After Dimayuga was recently approached by a freelance writer who wanted to interview her for IvankaTrump.com, she shared screenshots of the exchange, including her eloquent, gloriously shade-filled response (Spoiler: She said NOPE).

"I would love to conduct an interview (via telephone/email) with you spotlighting your work as a strong female entrepreneur," wrote freelance writer Adi Heyman, who describes IvankaTrump.com as a "non-political platform of empowerment for modern working women."

Dimayuga wasn't having it. She told the Huffington Post she collaborated with her friend, activist Shakirah Simley, on the best response to this supposedly "non-political" request. Here is what she wrote:

Hi Adi,

Thank you for thinking of me. I’m glad you are a fan of my work so much that you want to provide more visibility for my career to inspire “other working women.” However, I’m for women who actually empower other women.

I don’t believe that IvankaTrump.com is truly “a non-political platform of empowerment for {women}”. So long as the name Trump is involved, it is political and frankly, an option for the IvankaTrump.com business to make a profit.

I don’t see anything empowering about defunding Planned Parenthood, barring asylum from women refugees, rolling back safeguards for equal pay, and treating POC/LGBT and the communities that support these groups like second class citizens.

As a queer person of color and daughter of immigrant parents I am not interested in being profiled as an aspirational figure for those that support a brand and a President that slyly disparages female empowerment. Sharing my story with a brand and family that silences our same voices is futile.

Thank you for the consideration.

And that, my friends, is how it's done.

Ivanka hit the trifecta - "As a queer person of color and daughter of immigrant parents" - Could Ivanka be any more tone deaf? She really does seem to be living in her own fantasy world, where she is a liberated progressive woman, and Dimayuga ain't buying it.

I love it, too.

Now THAT'S what I call style. AND class.

NEVER EVER FORGET who precious perfect robotically soft-spoken Ivanka is.

The "60 Minutes" interview last year with the trump family - AND a little post-script on Ivanka's website, too, told me everything I needed to know about her.

She sat there in the "front row" of the clustered group of family members - with daddy and Melania.

At one point, her positioning changed. Instead of just sitting there quietly (until she was called upon to answer a question or make a comment) WITH BOTH HER HANDS RESTING DOWN IN HER LAP, there came a moment when that changed. One arm moved. Strategically. Her elbow remained at her lap. Her forearm, however, raised up and across her chest so her hand was just barely touching her opposite shoulder. I spotted that and made a mental note, but didn't really know why, till later. It was such a deliberate gesture, looking purposeful and even planned. I didn't know why, but it was noticeable and it bothered me a little - a kind of "hmmm - that was weird" type of thing.

Until the next day.

I saw a post online referring to Ivanka's website, and a screen shot of her with that arm in that position. Hey, you can see the slim gold bangle bracelet she was wearing - that was VERY clearly in plain sight on camera, when she repositioned that arm. RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF HER FOREARM - that you now could not avoid seeing. The screen shot of that photo was taken from her website, with a caption that read (I'm paraphrasing) "did you see the bracelet Ivanka was wearing on '60 Minutes'? You can get one for $10,000!"

This was not long after I spotted ANOTHER screen shot from Ivanka's website - a full-length photo of her standing onstage, at the podium at the republi-CON convention, when she was introducing her dad. The caption read "Shop Ivanka's Look from the RNC Convention!" And when you clicked on it, you could find the pale-colored sleeveless body-skimming sheath, and the high heeled sandals, for sale on Ivanka's site.

CRIMINY!!!! It was confirmed for me, right there. She's her father's daughter alright. She's only in it for the money. Only in it to sell you shit that's probably made in China for cheap, style-rip-off shit at that, which you really don't need, at an exorbitant mark-up. Just like daddy. Push that brand! Push that brand!

I noticed, before the campaign started, that her Ivanka trump line was all knock-offs. Her stuff consisted of ripping off other designers, but just changing one or two little things - like the high-heeled stiletto sandals featuring slender leather thongs that wrapped around the ankles. At the tip of each thong was a flirty little tassel. Looking around through the fashion sites, I noticed the original design - I forget the name by now - it might have been in-house Bergdorf Goodman or some such - and sure enough, there were the same sandals. Store brand, I think. But the tassels were a different size than the Ivanka ones.

Eventually I stumbled upon an article online in which several different kinds of Ivanka fashions were placed side by side with the original styles of which her items were knock-offs. They did sell for less than the originals, I will say that. Maybe the original sandals cost $500-$600+, while her versions were maybe $189 or some such, a pair.

My dad was in manufacturing, years ago. He told me one of the things he learned was that - if you had a patent on something, somebody else could come along, change one bolt or one strap - just one little thing - and then apply for and be granted a patent on their version (that was nothing but a rip-off of yours).

What more could anyone ask? Glad to see people aren't automatically buying into the Ivanka is the good Drumpf lie. She's nothing like that or she couldn't support her criminal father and husband.

http://www.elle.com/culture/career-politics/news/a44491/mission-chinese-chef-on-why-she-spoke-up-about-ivanka-trump/

"I read the request while I was expediting service, and I nearly screamed," she told ELLE.com of the request from writer Adi Heyman to spotlight Dimayuga as a "strong female entrepreneur" on Ivanka Trump's lifestyle website. "I knew that it needed my full attention, so I waited until after the weekend to get back to her. I knew I definitely wanted to say something

"People, especially in marginalized communities are feeling more encouraged to speak and have their voices and narratives heard, and we all want to hear from them. We are beginning to be both more willing to share with no bullshit, and at the same time learning how to be better listeners."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/chef-angela-dimayuga-ivanka-trump_us_58ee4407e4b08c15f0db9249

“I learned that only 6 percent of executive positions in kitchens are held by women. I am also queer, and have immigrant parents,” Dimayuga wrote. “I’ve come to the understanding that people want to hear what I have to say from my unique point of view. It’s a responsibility that gives me purpose, so making clear and pointed decisions on what I involve my time with is important.”

Dimayuga said the response to her post has been “unanimously positive.” Even celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain commented on her Instagram, calling Dimayuga “My hero!”

her ass on a platter. Serve that up, Ivanka. If empowering women means sitting on Daddy's lap while he plays "War Time President", in order to deflect investigations into his treasonous collusion with the Russians, you can keep your "empowerment", White House Barbie!
