correct. Bernie identifies in Congress as an independent, he describes himself as a "Democratic Socialist", and though he aligns himself with the Democrats in Congress, he makes a point not to be identified as part of the Democratic party

4. My question is, as always, what is the OP trying to do?

Aside from the obvious?

At least this time he's not fixated on the 2020 presidential picks, which I appreciate.

Sanders lost in the Democratic primary in 1990,1996, 2000, and 2004, but won the general election in a 3 way race as an Independent.
The DSCC endorses Bernie in his 2006,2012,and 2018 us senate races.

6. Your point? There are 34 seats up in 2018, of which 25 are held by Democrats.

Dems need to gain 3 seats to take control of the Senate with current 52 Republicans and 48 Democrats (including two independents).

Democrats' Path Back to Power: Running the Numbers, Part 3 (Senate 2020)

......... To have even a remote chance of winning a Senate majority in 2018, Democrats will need all their incumbents to get re-elected (including five in states that went for Trump by more than 15 points), pick up Nevada and Arizona, and then squeeze one more win out of the group of Mississippi, Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming ..........

........ bottom line is this: Democrats have to win some light-red and even solid-red Senate seats if they want to be back in the majority in the Senate by 2020. ..........

Indiana is getting redder and redder. I thought Twitler's failure would change a few minds (including my own family).
But so far no. Trump is god here.
Very sad.
