Bill O'Reilly..17 years. Breaks my heart.

There is a lot of celebration about Bill O'Reilly tonight. Well I will not celebrate. A station aided and abetted the abuse for fucking 17 years! 17 years., They knew and gave him a pass.

My take.

I am very glad he is gone. Thrilled he is gone. However for 17 years his coworkers and owner Ailes aided and abetted his crimes. They knew and said nothing. Ailes and Bill are gone. They knew, all of Fox knew and they gave them a pass. Why? 'Cause women are there for their pleasure. We are nothing to them and never will be.

And there were probably more potential lawsuits so time to cut their losses and say good bye. No more Grandpa's Yelling Again, he belongs to the ages now.

It was the harm to their bottom line that mattered.

Having said that, I'm glad this particular asshole lost his pulpit. But that's tempered with them giving the pulpit to another ass: Tucker Carlson.

"Fox news has sent a strong message to its male anchors-as long as you don't lose advertisers, you can sexually harass women for decades."

It wasn't because women were mistreated, it was because their wallets might have gotten a little lighter. Disgraceful, and everyone who watched that serial sex offender over the years should feel ashamed.

I don't think it was any one thing such as the advertisers fleeing that did it. Fox was looking down the barrel at significant settlements (Remember Gretchen Carlson got $20M in her settlement with Ailes). One of the plaintiff's attorneys asked the New York State Division of Human Rights to investigate and the SDNY was supposedly looking into the settlements paid. Defending against these investigations/lawsuits is going to cost the company a pile of money.

a culture where sexual abuse was not only tolerated but seemingly encouraged by their refusal to take action against the abusers until they lost advertising revenue. Faux needs to be put out of business, period. The Murdochs too for that matter.
