Donald Trumps inauguration fund: fake people, fake companies, and fake addresses on vacant lots

After two major newspapers published the records of donations made to the inauguration, another reporter led a crowdsourced effort which revealed that many of the records may have been falsified. That includes instances of donations being made from “people” whose names don’t exist anywhere else, and whose listed mailing addresses are vacant lots.

The process began when the New York Times and Washington Post published the Trump inauguration donation records. They were suspicious from the beginning, because Trump’s inauguration ended up being a poorly attended and comparatively small event, not justifying the large amount of donated funds. But from there, Huffington Post reporter Christina Wilkie put the records into an editable online Google Document and asked her followers on social media to help her investigate the more than fifteen hundred supposed donors. The results thus far are astounding. A few examples:

– On line 183, a $400,000 donation is listed from “Isabel T. John” who doesn’t appear to be a real person according to any available public records. Moreover one participant confirmed first hand that the listed mailing address for the donation has been a vacant lot for years.

– On lines 726 and 727 of the document, a combined $100,000 was donated from the mailing address of a nonprofit organization that appears to have only had $500 in revenue to begin with.

Here is the reporter's Twitter acount:
https://twitter.com/christinawilkie

and HERE is the database online. Far right side of it ( you may have to scroll to the side) there are comments about some of the donors, by people who have already checked them out.
I am still trying to get an answer from her about how I can add info. I spotted as a problem.

She mentioned that people who make donations to a politician and hide via false name, shell co. etc. are breaking Federal Law. She seems like a very determined person, intent on completing this project and issuing the results. I HOPE then the Feds will get involved and find some MORE items to list on the Pro Impeachment Issues.

found someone on that list who donated from 2 different addresses, in a town I happen to know well.
doesn't seem too smart, to have your name at one address and then right below have your name at different address, but guess people are not thinking of the kind of database they will be in.

Replying to @christinawilkie

Using your data I plotted donors by state and percent that vote for Trump. States w/highest % contributed the least.

said it could take at least a year to investigate the Russian interference in our election connections. Now add "Inauguration Donations-gate", "Condo Sales Moneylaundering-gate", "Mar-a-Lago's Secret Visitor's Log-gate" and Trump could conceivably complete a full first term and run for a second before any prosecutions begin. Maybe that's been the plan all along; to overwhelm the resources of the federal government by having their hands in many illicit pots. Ivanka is doing her share too, and also Jared and brothers Eric and Donald Jr. The theme being if you're going to be corrupt then you might as well be all in or nothing. Go Big or Stay Home. At some point the FBI has to pick and choose what illegalities they will pursue because they can't pursue all this family's illegal shenanigans.

I don't mean this to sound glib or snarky. Is there a 'practical' implication to this? Are there legal consequences for "cheating" (for want of a better word) like this?

both for the people who lie when they donate and definitely for the people who are getting the money.
Having names and addresses of donors which do not exist is a big tip off to money laundering, and we know by now that Trump has a LONG history of being involved with people who launder money.
best yet, this can be prosecuted at the state level, if the feds don't want to do it.
