With all these conservative female pundits that Ailes, O'Reilly, and Hannity sexually harrassed you would think it would make them rethink their conservatism if conservatism produces such pigs. Guys want to get laid. We get that. But there is a huge difference between flattery, fast talking, and cajolery and using your position as an employer with control over the person you are are trying to bed livelihood.

(4,066 posts)Well, that makes total sense.
The Amygdala is part of the Limbic System. The "fight or flight" lower part of the brain that probably ensured our survival as a species in the distant past. We've all heard that referred to as our "lizard brain." It still reacts first and can de-rail the higher part of the brain that provides critical thinking.
Some literature I've read posits that one must practice critical thinking and exercise the higher brain to get the higher brain to be the decision maker rather than the lower brain. The lack of desire to practice critical thinking on the part of people who support conservatives (i.e. racists, sexist, bigoted, xenophobic, homo-phobic, trans-phobic and all those other "deplorable" attributes) seems to have some evidence in science for why they think the way they do.
Two books I'm thinking of specifically are:
Thinking Fast and Slow which you can access here: http://shifter-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Daniel-Kahneman-Thinking-Fast-and-Slow-.pdf
and
Memoirs of an Addicted Brain by Marc Lewis - not available for free online but a good read anyway.
