New Trumpcare plan 'makes bad bill worse,' AARP saysKate Santich Contact Reporter Orlando Sentinel 4-26-17
Under Trumpcare 2.0 the GOPs revised plan to replace Obamacare older low-income Floridians would face prohibitively expensive health insurance premiums, even if theyre healthy, AARP Florida warned Wednesday in what leaders said should be a wake-up call to the states residents.
If this passes, its going to push a lot of older Floridians back into the ranks of the uninsured, said AARP Florida director Jeff Johnson. And that will have dire consequences for their health, for their personal finances, for the finances of the health care system in Florida and for our public health.
The criticism came as some Republicans, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, praised the new version, claiming it was a vehicle to lower premiums [and] give states more flexibility. The Freedom Caucus, a group of three dozen conservative House Republicans, officially embraced the proposal.

Gotta love those "pro-life" Republicans.

(4,097 posts)It is nothing more than a tax cut for the rich. It has nothing to do with health care.

(5,801 posts)Caught between their paymasters the kochs et al. and the peasantry, aka constituents.
They obviously care only about the former but can't run and hide on this matter--their conflict of interest is glaringly exposed. Everyone can now see how vile and uncaring they really are.
The fact that they keep trying to yank healthcare from millions despite the political downside indicates how severe the pressure is from the wealthy to get rid of that tax funding the subsidies.
