Wow! We had a tie vote for one of the 8 places in the FINALS, so I'm including 9 photos in the FINALS.The theme for this month's contest was based on the concept of The Wizard of Oz. Photographers were asked to submit a photo of a wild travel adventure where they encountered different architecture, landscape, native plants and animals, or food unlike what they experience at home ("somewhere over the rainbow") OR a photo of something that spoke to their heart when they returned from an amazing travel adventure about being "no place like home". If the experience of travel had not been an option, then they were asked to submit a photo of something in their native environment that made them happy to be where they were.
The FINALS will run for 48 hours. The winner of the April contest will be responsible for hosting the May contest, or, if unable to serve as host, be responsible for finding a substitute host.
Thanks to all the photographers who entered!
Please take care when voting for your favorite as there are several photos in the FINALS which have similar titles.

(31,464 posts)My "Thai Home" pic had ten times the votes of anything else in the group, including the California pic that is currently #1. Now my pic is dead last.

(31,409 posts)and the winners of each thread go up against the winners of the other threads, sometimes it's hard to predict the result.
Makes it fun.
I thought all the photos were really interesting and quite varied for this contest.

(31,464 posts)I just find it odd that one pic can win a group by such a large margin, then comes in dead last in the finals.

I have many times told myself and others that nothing is determined til the finals roll, and also that surprises are almost always in play.
It's the inscrutability of the voters and that famed eye of the beholder which can't be nailed down from one day to the next. If you don't win this time, just keep submitting your work and you will win again.
Plus you'll get to run the contest
